Okay, so today I went and bought ME2 for PC, and now, I've uninstalled it and reinstalled and the thing just won't load. Every time I click play it says "Failed to authenticate the disc. Please insert the correct disc and try again.", whereas I've put both disc 1 and 2 in and it still comes up with the error :/ It has accepted the Product Key too. I've got enough dramas where 3D modelling is concerned let alone having to put up with this error, so help would be greatly appreciated.

EA uses the disk check from Sony, SecureROM, and it's a flaky product that doesn't work well when you have a DVD drive that is both reader and burner. Usually, if there's a problem, it's during the install process. There have been many prior threads about this. I've never had the variation of the problem that you are experiencing, and all of the forums here at the Social Site are way, way down in readership by experienced members.

All but ME-3, and Off-Topic, at least. That leaves about a half dozen who do stop by to answer here, but not every day. Your best option, if Kloreep's FAQ list didn't cover it (did you check?), is the forum archives. But use a professional search engine, not the poor Finder here inside Social. Then add a redirector to the criteria:

That's good to know. I thought I had a bad DVD drive.

It was so bad when Fallout 3 was new that Sony modified it a couple of times, there were so many complaints, but it still is doing the same thing. My two best PC systems have Plextor DVDs, quite fast, quite well made, but with FO3, DA: O, ME-2, and DA2 disks in them, Windows couldn't recognize a thing. I had to install across my LAN from an old PC I used to have for the LaserJet printer (it has an LPT port, not USB), and that machine had a Sony read-only DVD.

Once they were installed, I had no problem (and I cannot recall having any similar trouble with ME-1).

My problems aren't that annoying. Sometimes the drive doesn't detect the disc and sometimes it does. I keep trying until it works. Right now I have the ME2 disc in my DVD drive and it doesn't recognize the disc.

I havent had any problems with it reading the disks since I completely disabled the autoplay functionality on all CD/DVD/USB drives. Might be worth a look into.
