Why shouldn't it be compatible with weapon mods?

For the same reason the majority of the ME2 DLC armors weren't customizable.

I dunno, they seemed to have solved the whole "how do we do visual customization for guns that need to fold up," so why wouldn't they apply the system that they've got for the rest guns to these guns?

Well, you were able to increase the ammo and power for the DLC weapons in ME2, so we'll probably be able to use the weapon mods on these weapons in ME3.

DLC armor pieces are.

I could have sworn they said that they wouldn't be doing any of this retailer-preorder-exclusives type stuff. It would be more upsetting if I hadn't gone with Gamestop, but all of this seems pretty lame (especially the bit about the N7 rifle).

It makes some sense from a competitive business standpoint but still...

Probably because the color will change along with it.

And then they'll lose some when the players that weren't able to get the exclusive DLCs wants them as regular DLCs and are willing to pay for it.

Exellent marketing strategy.

Honestly I just watched the video for this stuff and completely missed any of the information shown because of the awesome visuals and dat soundtrack. I can't wait to blast this in the car on the way to work so it feels like the grind is a life or death race against time.

They were a bit disingenuous when they said that there wouldn't be any bonuses other than what was included in the N7 CE, so I'd be willing to bet some of those exclusives will be available as DLC later on down the road (even if they say it won't) for additional money.

The only DLC things I remember not able to be bought later in ME2 were the Dr. Pepper items and that one gamestop armor.

Does "N7 Warfare Gear" just mean the N7 assault rifle? Or does it mean the whole weapon pack (pistol, shotgun, smg) that comes with the Collectors Edition?

The trailer for it just says if you pre-order from Gamestop you'll get: "N7 Defender armor", "N7 Valkryrie rifle" and "M55 Argus rifle".  So I'm guessing that's it (except the Argus rifle is available for everyone)

Arright. So in other words, we do have to buy at least 2 copies of the game to get all the pre-order bonuses. Normally I'd be a bit miffed at that, but only having to get two is tolerable. Please don't add a WalMart and BestBuy pre-order exclusives unique to those stores.. PLLLEASE!

Sorry, are you actually going to pay an extra sixty dollars for one extra weapon?

An extra sixty dollars for a new weapon? No.
An extra sixty dollars for a new weapon for yours truly and a birthday gift for my friend... possibly.

They were simply pre-order DLCs. It's noticable when the effort is put somewhere else.

Just look at the Argus and the Raider:

They really went all out with the design. Absolutely no similarity.

That makes no sense, considering how different all the DLC armors looked.

Store Exclusives turning DLCs are iffy things.

What Bioware/EA does with Origin is up to them, and later, if they want to put the Shotgun up for a DLC later, they have the right to do so.

Putting the Valkyrie & Defender armor up later is problematical. And for the same reason you can't get the Terminus Armor now. Gamestop (in this case) owns the rights to it, and Bioware/EA has to purchase the rights to do so.

Me: I'd say that Gamestop should put up the Pre-Order stuff up for sale at a later date (For ME 3, say about July 6, 2012) on their website. Then they can get MORE $$$ and those as came to the series late (like me, I got ME 1 & 2 around Jan 2011) can still get things.

As for ME 3: I pre-ordered the CE version from Gamestop at roughly the same time as Skyrim. I'll get the Valkyrie and Defender, and the other AR, but will miss out on the Shotgun (until/unless Bioware/EA decides to make it DLC). Big Whoop.

No, Gamestop might have the rights to exclusivity for a limited period, but not in perpetuity (they certainly don't own it outright, as ought to be obvious given that the Terminus gear is on the PS3). And that period may be very short indeed.  Many Gamestop-only bonuses have later become available for sale.

And yet you can't find the Terminus Armor & Weapon for the PC.

Which still doesn't prove your claim that they somehow own the IP rights.  All it proves is that they have....limited exclusivity. In this case, for the platforms covered by the contract. And for all we know, the exclusivity clause has lapsed and Bioware simply doesn't think it's worth it to push out another ME2 DLC at this point.
