Maybe its just me being used to a MMORPG the last 4 years... but i HATE it that i cant play my character any further when you end the game...
its all over... hours and hours of levelling and tweaking and socializing with your char... and now its just over :(

I only did like 45% of the whole game... so i would have luved to continue with my group and do the rest of the quests.
I tried starting over with a new char, but i find myself skipping a whole bunch of dialolgues becuase, well, i know them already.
Its like reading a second time after you just finished it.

Anyway, just ranting here :) .... i LOVED the game. i just hope someone comes up with a dedicated public server realm like NWN had/has. i love to play this on a regular basis on a 24/7 dedicated server..

You can't play this online with other people or am I missing something?

Regardless, the ending was... meh. This game should have had more levels and guns.

You cant yet no.... but neither could you play NWN online with others :)

Thats why they gave us the toolbox. if people make their own persistent world and have a dedicated server.... why not?

Having played WoW in the past i have to say that doing the same raids over and over again, having to farm stuff for the things you need practically every day and doing "daily" quests all the time, doesn't really give you any "new" things when you log on every time, does it ?

I'm not saying its the same thing but content wise i found it to be very similar. The same dialogues, same quests, same things every day.
In an MMO its the social part that makes it replayable not the actual content. In a single player RPG the social part doesn't exist so you are left with the game content alone. I stopped playing because i was tired of the same old things i had to do every time i wanted to play, over and over again.
This is my personal opinion ofc.

Edit: Just pointed that out cause i think that isnt much different when it comes to the things you have to do when you are at max level in an MMO. Ofc the MMO is made to be longer cause you have to level up and gear up a lot to reach the final content but i do believe the difference is on the social part of it. Again, personal view :)

You could play NWN online because it was already built into the game. DA:O was not built with online play being an option. Sadly all good things must come to an end, even DA:O.

yeah agreed, but DA:O lasted exactly ... 5 days...

I just started to feel comfortable with my char and tuned my skills... and then it was over :(

And the expansions, however fun, last about 1 hour... they are just extra quests ....

in conclusion, DA:O should have been alot longer ... i think Bioware bit themselves in the foot'/finger/bodypart by making DA:O to much fun :D

My character needs to do laundry. I'm really disappointed bioware didn't let me continue playing my character. He will smell now.

Expansions? Where? The DLC are not full expansions like SoU or HotU were for NWN, the game isn't that old yet; they're more bonus content for those that are interested in them.

The length of DA:O is all relative to how much time you spend playing it each day and how many times you intent to replay it with different class/specs/origins.

I disagree, Mass Effect never freaking ends. Ever. In fact, KOTOR didn't even feel like it ends when you beat it. I don't know why, something about KOTOR is just really really good.

There are more gameplay things about Dragon Age Origins that I just detest compared to those games. Sure, I give it it's rightly deserved 10/10 because of the technical feats it accomplished, especially with the numerous voice works. But game play wise it feels largely lacking in intensity, but that is my perspective. Perhaps I just feel this way when it comes to these "Mideival time" games. Perhaps the only feelings of joy I get are when the sword combat is more fast paced and you are being thrown into the fray with 50-100 soldiers also wielding swords going head long into some siege.

Now, all of the combat in Mass Effect was more like an elite counter terrorism unit carrying out assignments, but it worked really well and still felt intense. But maybe that is again my bias towards things more futuristic. I'll admit it. But I still like my swords and my shields. For instance, one of the greatest scenes in this game is when you see the darkspawn swordsmen cutting through the humans at Ostagar. The combat is so intense, much more intense then the actually combat.

What's sad, is I know bioware could accomplish such regular flowing combat.... WHY!? BECAUSE THEY'VE DONE IT BEFORE! OH WHATS THIS NWN 1, YOU CAN PARRY? YOU LOCK SWORDS WITH YOUR ENEMIES??? YOU DONT SIMPLY HIT OR HIT MISS AND RARELY PARRY WITH NO SWORDLOCKING?

God, it seems like the only game left is Mount and Blade. You all know what the combat in this game could have been. NWN2 should feel ashamed. I have NO idea why Bioware would rid itself of the single locked combat or deflecting blows and locking blades.

Yes, it is ALL simply animations, but if you are going to say that your quality of live and entertainment and joy isn't dictated by the dancing lights in front of your face or the vibrations through the air then I can say you are delusional. And if you happen to be both blind and without hearing... DAAAAAAAMN BRO THAT SUCKS.

Well i dont think the lenght of a game can be measured by how many times you can replay it....
I started a second char and tried to replay it... but i couldnt get myself to read all the conversations again and again... since i already know what is coming..
Most of the game will become franting ESC ESC pressing to pass the bits you already know to see some of the bits you didnt see before..

Non stop playing could probably make DA:O last 5 days yes. It lasted a lot longer for me and i am alrdy thinking of playing it again with an evil character. It is single player game after all and it is alrdy a lot longer than most games out there anyway.

These are DLC btw, they arent expansions. They are basically extra quests with story :) They are ment to add different small things in the game world.

You just said you only explored 45% of the game... then you say it should have been longer.

IT IS LONGER!

You just didn't see any of it.
