We all have our own styles when building characters. Some build a Mage in a certain style and so forth to be a fierce Arcane Warrior who can do spells and use a sword too. For me tho, I am always a warrior type personality in games I play ( I am the run in first and fight hard type) and was so in my first DA:O play through but found relying on a rogue to open locks was a pain in the butt. I hate Liliana with a venom and Zev takes awhile to get him up to higher packing levels. So next time I played a rogue, but hated relying on another tank to take on the bunt of the fighting. So I next decided to play a rogue but build her to be a dual weapon warrior who could open her own locks too. Playing a rogue allowed me to open a slot for another warrior and in my group (or use Zev, but have him focused on his weapon abilities more the lock picking) but also allowed me to become a warrior in a sense too. It takes time, gold for buying tomes to enhance and such to turn a rogue into a tank lock picker but it can be done. It also helps to add in any gear that boost strength too. By the time I get to the Deep Roads (I save it for my last recruits) I am packing a hell of a punch and a mastery of dual weapons too. Now I am set. I equip 2 kickin long swords ( I like Starfang and Calin's sword, since they are unique looking and I like to be unique, lol, and pack them with tough runes) and tough armor ( I like either the Warden Commander Armor ~after a set in the safe box at warden keep for a boost to a 21 armor scale~ or Wades Dragon Scale armor) and I am ready to go. From here on out I stick almost always with 2 more tanks and Morrigan for pretty much the rest of the game. When fighting herds of Darkspawn, the 3 tank onslaught works great for me. We slice through everything like I was playing on casual plus I can still loot all the awesome finds on the way.
Since this set up works awesome for me and so I thought I'd share it. I am sure others out there probably do it too, but if someone out there who doesn't but hate the dragging a rogue along for only lock picking to be a pain, but want to play a warrior, then I'd share.

Thanks!.. I was thinking along that line as well but wasn't sure you could develope a rogue into a tank. I am going to create once I finish first run thru as just warrior tank.

Whatever I make - its always duel weapon - I am a fanatic.

I rarely play a mage, but did in DA2 - my favourite class would be Rogue, second duel weapon/tempest ranger.

Zevran is my favourite companion and so my build complements his and we often just trade aggro for sneak attacks.

Later levels with top gear - we are riduculously awesome together LOL

It's an Arcane Warrior + Spirit Healer (+ Battlemage in 'Awakening') for me all the way. AW's merely for the ability to equip proper armour, Healer's self-explanatory and Battlemage is simply fantastic.

Although dual-wielding, backstabbing rogues are pretty awesome too...
