So I'm considering romancing Thane or Garrus in ME2, but it just feels weird since they are not human.  Should I go through with it.  Did anyone else feel that way?

Well, you can't get more "human" than Thane. He's very emotional and talks about it in great detail. Garrus is embarrassingly hollow in ME2, so I doubt you'd even notice.

Well, I really like their personalities better than the human squadmates, but every time I have a conversation with them I think of how they and Shep would do it and it doesn't look pretty.

I always romance an alien in ME; it's not weird at all.

ManShep and Tali.

In all seriousness, go for it.

In my personal opinion, if I had to choose, it'd be Thane. Garrus doesn't seem like the type of person to fall in love with someone else, at least, not during a mission.

Yeah, I always figured that the anatomical differences would make things... interesting. But they're all human looking enough that I doubt the proper pieces would be too different.

Don't romance Thane. Drell have perfect memories and he still misses his wife. Romance Garrus if you don't want to romance the two best options, Liara and Tali.

I honestly don't think he knows how. I'm pretty sure Garrus is the kind that would avoid involvement with women and turrianettes at all cost because his work is too "important."

If your current Shepard is attracted to one or the other of them, then go for it. If you just want to check out the romances for curiosity's sake, go check them out on youtube. I once had my Warden in DA romance someone I didn't like and I couldn't even finish the playthrough. Go with what feels right for you.

There's also this.

Thane seems to be still bitter over the loss of his wife.

And didn't she die fairly recently? It wouldn't be right for him to jump right back into a relationship.

The game disagrees with you.

No, she's been dead for ten years.

There's nothing wrong with having a single Shepard if you're not into any of the available LIs. It's the only way I play ME2, and I feel like the story is better when my character is angsting by her lonesome instead of chasing alien tail while working for Cerberus and undertaking a suicide mission. When I was curious about the romance scenes, I went to youtube.

And there's always flipping a coin.

Male Shepard--I always go for Jack. Across the board.

But female Shepard...Garrus.

(because they won't let you romance Grunt and we all know we would if we could)

No. Wrex > Grunt any day.

Go for the one you like most. If you like both, maybe you could consider running another Shepard. I personally like to try all the LIs and I run a new Shepard for each of them :)

Yeah, he's inability to make a cohesive statement when talking to a woman he's known for years surely shows his capability to be cool in sexual situations. I should elaborate, I think he would use his "my work is too important" line as a means to avoid the venture at any expense. The one incident he talks about took place when he was a cadet, so many years ago.

But he doesn't try to avoid it at any expense. Shepard asks him if he wants to do it, and he says yes.

Well don't you think you need to look past the "doing it" part?

Mass Effect romances are not about that.

Besides if you romance Miranda, then it is. But other wise no.

Gotta look past the "doing it" part and look at the relationship.

But Thane is the spirtual type person, as I like the call "Strong , silent type." Though he can turn into Tali and talk a while about his past.

While Garrus is socially awkward, but I like awkward people so its all good with Garrus.

Recomendation : Garrus.

That's called pis (plot induced stupidity). It makes sense since they needed a third male sex option, and MOrdin and Grunt look too alien, while Garrus is slightly more humanoid and popular, so he got the position. If you actually analyze the character, his personality and the way he communicates its not difficult to discern. Garrus doesn't get much sex, but if it makes you feel better I'm sure he gets more than Tali.

Judging by the leak, I'm sure Tali gets more than Garrus.

Depends if you're playing as MShep or FShep, really.

Betwen thane and garrus...
Thane is like a serious romance (it's so sad).
Garrus is like a gag romance (it's just too comical).
