Favorite: Baldur's Gate 2

Least favorite: hard to say, would probably have to be Dragon Age 2 with the original Mass Effect comming in second.

Most Disappointed: Baldur's Gate 1- probably going to catch flack for this, but playing BG1 after every other Bioware series, most of its innovations were lost on me. I don't think it aged particularly well. Add on top of that a scavenger hunt-esque main storyline, Vancian casting system, and a very bland style of dialogue, this was one of my more disappointing purchases. Thankfully it came cheap.

No I can understand why you might say this, probably not the best game released by Bioware but it was a good starting point for them and it was a good game back in its day but whenever you hear about how great the Baldur's Gate series was I think most people are refering to Baldur's Gate 2.

With your 2 choices of worst western RPGs I have to believe you haven't played many western rpgs.

Can't list any favorite, I usually return and play the majority of them 5-6 times.
I don't really hate any, though I'd have to say Icewind Dale. Purely blank group of heroes doesn't entertain me at all. Regret purchasing it over Baldur's Gate when I was younger.

Just like the JRPG question, too many to pick one lol.

Favorites: DA:O, Mass Effect 1, KOTOR, BG2, very close, all on my top games ever list. I was going to put Skyrim on there, but it's too new. I have to see what lasting appeal it has for me before I elevate it up my list.

Least Favorite: DA2, failed me on the most basic level, wasn't fun. It's the only WRPG I call recall ever that I couldn't get play through twice.

Why? Do you disagree with my opinion? Of course there are probably worse games out there but those 2 stand out in my most recent memory as my least favorite RPGs that I have played. It makes me laugh when people bad mouth DA2 when the original Mass Effect dispite its high praise had exactly the same problems. At the time it came out I probably enjoyed Icewind Dale more than I did those 2 games.

Favorite: It's a tie between DA:O, KoToR, and Oblivion.

Most hated: Fable. I would have said DA2, but the topic says WRPG, not Anime Action Games.

Favorite: Fallout: 2

Least Favorite: Fallout: 3--story was just awful, and I couldn't forgive them for butchering the lore.

He is still entitled to his opinion regardless. He might simply rate his games according to different criteria.

That's true. People talk about how incredible the BG series is, but in particular I always hear about BG2+ Throne of Bhaal as being "the big ones".

I can definitely appreciate Baldur's Gate 1's role in launching Bioware's RPG career. What ended up happening for me was that the summer after ME2 came out, I decided to go back and play through some of the older RPG games I would hear about. I started with Deus Ex and Planescape: Torment, so on top of ME2 and DA:O, by the time I got around to it, BG's innovation just didn't stand out by comparison.

Oh, lol. I completely forgot about Fable 2. That would definitely replace DA2 in my least favourite.

I liked Icewind Dale 1 & 2, not enough to put up there with my favourites but i enjoyed them alot, enough to play through more than once. Wouldn't do for everyone to like the same thing though i guess ... better stop writing now, i am starting to sound like my Nana.

My most favorites are: Mass Effect series, TES 5 - Skyrim, Divinity series, KotOR 1, Dragon Age Origins, Neverwinter Nights 2, Baldur's Gate series. I love these games!

What about least favorite games... I don't really like TES 4 - Oblivion (well... how to say... because the main character was was not as 'main' as she could be) and Dragon Age 2 (the story is a bit boring).

I liked it, I played through IWD2 twice and I still think it's better than the first two BG games. Yea, I said it. BG might have been something amazing in it's day but after you've played some newer D&D CRPG titles like me, BG ceases to impress(in the end I found it really tedious and limiting)

Because if you can't date your companions BSN doesn't give a damn.

The Icewind Dale games were good if you like dungeon crawling.  While BG 1 has not aged well, I find BG 2 almost as entertaining now as when I originally played.  The wonderful tons of mods available certainly help that, but even without them, BG 2 w/ Throne of Bhaal ranks among my favorites and vies for fave game of all time.

Honestly, I can never get enough facing off against Irenicus and Bodhi.  I really loved having Sarevok in my party in Throne of Bhaal as well.  That was awesome.

I've probably played BG 2 upwards of twenty times over the years.

I liked IWD but the drawback for me (compared to other games that I listed) was that the characters weren't very developed.

I still enjoyed the game, however.

Is that a shot at me? It has nothing to do with romances. I just don't like parties of souless automatons any more than I like souless PCs, which is my issue with NV and TES games in general and they don't even have parties.
