Spectre = None of this rank BS.

Normandy = Alliance vessel w/ Alliance crew = Rank still matters.

Spectres exist outside rank structure. If Anderson puts Shepard in command, it doesn't matter what his/her rank is.

Anderson doesn't, and what part of "Alliance vessel" don't you understand?  Remember the beginning of ME1?  That Nihlus guy?  Spectre right?  Was not the boss of the Normandy.

Because Nihlus was supposed to be an observer on said mission 1, not in charge of it.

Anderson specifically order Shepard to go out and get help and come back to save Earth, imo putting Shep in charge of the Normandy to fulfil said mission. He even re-instates Shep's Alliance rank but I don't think that matters as Shep's Spectre status supersedes any rank-related nonsense.

I'm not sure why the fact the Normandy is an Alliance vessel should stop Shepard being CO. Its a complicated hierarchy as the Alliance is under the Council (or running the Council) and Spectre is a Council-granted status.

It's not even an Alliance Vessel no more. It's a CEBERUS vessel, created and redesigned by CEBERUS.

The key word is CEBERUS!

If Kaiden is on Shepards Normandy then Kaiden can go **** his self. He has no Authority.

Wouldn't that technically be theft though? They didn't build that ship.

Doesn't really matter though. EDI's the Normandy and EDI's on my Shep's side. We'll see who has authority when my Shep asks her to vent dissenting crew members out the hold. :bandit:

No.  Due to my personal preference and opinion, I don't find Liara sexy, meaning I wouldn't "categorize" her as a "sexy women."

Understand? Or you still being narrow minded?

In what possible way would that make it matter?
It's personal opinion. Mass Effect is entirely based on a player creating thoughts for themselves and getting active in the story.

All day this has gone off point . . . some people have tried to clear it up . . . didymos . . . I thank you. . . now this is taken from the codex and from MASS EFFECT WIKIA site http://masseffect.wi...ystems_Alliance

Systems Alliance: Military Ranks data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIABAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAABAAEAQAICTAEAOw%3D%3DEdit
The Alliance uses a modified version of the ranking system that has been used for hundreds of years. Soldiers are classified into rank-and-file enlisted personal, experienced non-commissioned officers (NCOs), and specially trained officers.
The divide between naval personnel and ground forces ("marines") is small. Ground units are a specialized branch of the fleet, just as fighter squadrons are. This unity of command is imposed by the futility of fighting without control of orbit; without the navy, any army is pointless. The marines, as a matter of pride, maintain some of their traditional rank titles; for example, marines have Privates and Corporals instead of Servicemen.
In ascending order of responsibility, the ranks of the Alliance are:
ENLISTED
  • Serviceman 3rd class/Private 2nd class
  • Serviceman 2nd class/Private 1st class
  • Serviceman 1st class/Corporal
NCOs
  • Service Chief
  • Gunnery Chief
  • Operations Chief
OFFICERS
  • 2nd Lieutenant
  • 1st Lieutenant
  • Staff Lieutenant
  • Lieutenant Commander. . . . . ( what Ash is as of ME3 . . . I believe). . .  (what Shep was just before death)
  • Staff Commander
  • Captain/Major  . . . . . (what Kaidan is as of ME3)
  • Rear Admiral/General. . . .( what Kahoku is in ME1)
  • Admiral . . . .(what Anderson is as of ME2 if he is not pick to be on the council)
  • Fleet Admiral. . . .( what Hackeet is)
Systems Alliance: N7 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIABAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAABAAEAQAICTAEAOw%3D%3DEdit
The Alliance Military Vocational Code system classifies the career path of all serving personnel. The MVC consists of one letter and one number. A soldier's MVC indicates proficiency, not rank. The letter notes career path; the number indicates level of experience, as indicated by service record, technical scores, and commendations. All 26 letters are used, and numbers run from 1 to 7. N is the letter code for Special Forces personnel.

I figure that's what didymos was referring to in the first place. The devs would categorize Liara (and probably every other Asari) in the "sexy women" group along with Ashley and Miranda.

Yeah, like Shep ever had the pink slip.  In any case, it was built using stolen Alliance state secrets.  So, tell you what: go steal the docs on the F-22 Raptor, and build your own.  Now see how far that'll get you with the US government.

Can you say recaptured or destroyed?  LOL, F-22 is a perfect example Didy, the Pentagon would crap bricks if that ever happened, likely the Alliance did too, and then commandeered it as a matter of Alliance security.

Great go ahead an be a smartass over an innocent question.

FYI: I never said Shep didn't steal the ship frankly I recall saying on several occassions I was gonna have him steal it back since he stole it twice already. But let's ignore that kay?

Or, for a slightly more accurate analogy, the F-35 Lightning II.

F-22 is more advanced than the F-35 in several aspects.  The F-35 excells at communitcating between other F-35s and F-22s, but it lacks the performance numbers of the F-22 in arial combat as well as the full stealth enchalada used on the B-2 and F-22.

In the end, if you wanted to steal radar and comms secrets, you'd be smarter to take the F-35, if you wanted thrust vectoring, superior AOA and avionics as well as the top of the line stealth features, you would steal the F-22.

First off, Kaidan Alenko, may "forget" that he is two full ranks higher when Shepard comes on board and starts issuing orders.

Second, Anderson (I chose him for the first human councillor) gets the Admiralty Rank in ME 3, and therefore is 2 ranks HIGHER than Alenko. If Anderson says that Shepard is in command of the Normandy, then Alenko must settle for XO (Shepard's Position at the begining of ME 1).

Spectre Status is Civilian, not Military. But certain Civilian ranks do, in fact, surpass military ranks (RL example: the American President is a civilian, but is Commander in Chief of all US armed forces).

Finally, In the Event that Alenko was Virmired, Shepard has Seniority over Lt Commander Ashley Williams, despite being the same rank.

As for the Commander that Shepard is called, the Lieutenant is seldom stated except in the most FORMAL of circumstances. in Normal Usage, the LT, the Staff, even the 1st & 2nd (of Lieutenant) is typically dropped.

Also, Shepard didn't get any Military rank promotions during the events of ME 2. (S)He remains a LT Commander.

Lieutenant Commander Shepard is the human protagonist of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and the upcoming Mass Effect 3, whose gender, appearance, skills and pre-service history are all customizable and have an impact on the story.
