Well same thing for Kaiden. Either Spectre or Alliance Officer. Not both.Someone With Mass wrote...

Unlikely as a Spectre he/she works for the Council, not the Alliance. That would be the same as if the Turians or Asari or Salarians promoted Shep. Shep may be an alliance soldier in his/her heart, but not as a matter of fact.
Same thing can be said about Kaidan.

Reinstated as a Spectre? Or in the Alliance? Since my Shep's always been a Spectre since ME1. So there would not be need for either?Ryzaki wrote...

How is it possible ? So Shepard will give orders to Kaidan ?Ryzaki wrote...
No Kaidan will not give Shep orders.
Even though Shep really needs a promotion.
No. Shep's reinstated right before he leaves Earth during ME3.
Kaidan's not giving Shep orders. Shep wouldn't give a damn anyway. Giving Shep orders is an exercise in futility unless you have the muscle to back it up (hi there TIM).Someone With Mass wrote...
Yep.
Shep's thumb looks creepy there.

Kaidan may technically outrank Shepard by Alliance standards, but Shep need only whip out his balls and the matter of "who outranks who" is immediately settled.

But why? She's a Spectre, she answers only to the Council. Oh Bioware what are you doing?Ryzaki wrote...

Oh, FFS. Shep was still in the Alliance for all of ME1. I.e., while Shep was a Spectre.

A. Because all Sheps aren't Spectres at that point
and B. Because the plot demands.
I better be able to tell the alliance to KMA at endgame though.

Well according to that gamer article the council gives back your specter status so regardless of weather you turned them down or not in 2 you out rank VS after that point.
No, you don't because the Spectres have no ranking system, and the VS is a Spectre too.

That and I wouldn't take too much of that information from that outstanding example of quality journalism to heart.

Then they can't pull rank on Shepard either. Probably won't either, since I can just shoot them repeatedly in the face without any repercussions whatsoever if they oppose me.

In that case, where is the promotion for all the accomplishments? The only way it made sense Shep didn't get promoted for example for saving the Citadel was that as a Spectre he/she is not an alliance soldier.didymos1120 wrote...

Here's what actually matters: who was given command of the Normandy, because that's an all-Alliance crew.
Also, can we just stipulate that everyone is just that (make-believe) badass and won't take any lip or whatever? All this e-posturing is getting tiresome. And for now, we'll just ignore the fact that you'll do what the devs allow you to and no more.

The leaked beta videos ive watched, ashley was being called Lt. Commander...Kaiden should be the same.Lt. Commander is the rank below Commander.Im quite sure Major is below commander as well.In the navy the only ranks higher than commander are Captain,Admiral and Admiral of the fleet.
Suffice it to say yet again: that's not how SA ranks work. Major outranks Staff Commander outranks Lt. Commander. Real world ranking systems are not relevant. See the Codex. Or the topic you're posting in.

Last time I checked, it's still Shepard's ship.
