Is there any chance for us to get an official statement on this? Maybe Chris Priestly, he drops some comments on BSN from time to time.

I really hope there will be high resolution textures for the PC version of ME3. :?

I want Mass Effect 3 to look as good as possible on my PC. I think most of us would agree on that and I think most of us definitely have the computer to support that without problem.

It would be nice to hear an official statement from Bioware on this. I doubt that we will before the release but I hope. Even though the ME-series is mostly a console series I hope they don't forget PC players.

Don't hold your breath.  I have been a part of a few threads on this topic the last few months with no input from Devs.  The DA2 team confirmed High Res textures the week leading up to release so I am still holding out hope!!

If they do give us one, I certainly hope it's better than the joke of a pack they did for DA2.

Since the graphics card-reqs are a bit higher (not a lot, but not so little either) there will be better textures and such in-game already. But vanilla DA2 also looked a lot better than DAO imo so I hope they release textures with maybe 2 times the resolution or something...

And since a LOT of threads has been made about this, they maybe might.

They could easily do a texture pack for X360. It'd just be pretty big.

BF3 was 2.3GB, and you imagine how many more environments/characters need textures for ME3.

I know Bioware graciously released a high resolution texture pack for Dragon Age 2 PC users on release date.  Is this something we could look forward to for ME3?  I know ME2 could have used one!

Better if it cames with the game...... No need to download.

I would like to throw in my support wholeheartedly behind this. Would love to see a HD texture pack.

That wasn't really high res, that brought the textures up to like medium-low compared to the PC version.

You aren't forced to download/install it. But it's always nice with high-res textures.

I sure as hell hope so, but I get the feeling we won't be seeing it even if the developers wanted us to have it. Unreal engine's texture streaming is pretty crappy. Even Epic's own posterchild for the Unreal engine, Gears of War 3, has texture streaming problems. I think high-res textures would just make it worse, with everything in the scene being blurry for a few seconds until they load. DA2 used a different engine so it could handle it, but with U3 engine, I don't know. I really hope Bioware finds a way, but I have my doubts.

Edit: I just remembered the fanmade high-res mod for ME2.  While it definitely bumped up the initial load times, it didn't affect the texture-streaming ingame for me, so there's hope yet!  I'll take a 5 minute boot up any day if it means ME3 with eye searingly good texture.

You people are crazy... texmod people put up these screenshots and stuff, and I have to look at it for like 5 min before I can see a difference. That said, if people want higher res so they can play Mass Effect at the IMAX all the power to them.

I do agree that the DA2 tex pack made a MASSIVE difference though, and whoever made that texture fix for ME1 Garrus's face lol

Put that on an SSD and load times are diminished!

You've obviously never seen JeanLuc's textures.

Just give up. We PC gamers get one hell of a game but bare minimum PC version from ME studio. There won't be even menu hotkeys ffs! Deal with it.

Bioware's not Valve, CD Project Red, nor Bethesda. No extra love for us.

That is the truth.

I never find texture packs do all that much for me. Aside perhaps from fixing the occasional really bad texture that bugs me

(The one non-Cerberus outfit available for FemShep is annoyingly bad, presumably because it was primarily intended for minor NPCs.)

I just tried the Texmod textures for ME2 this week...I have to fully disagree.  Miranda's outfit, Jack's tattoos, Garrus's face...just a huge difference.

As I said, if the textures are there, why gimp the game on PC.

No one has a right to special stuff, but it's certainly nice when the developers take advantage of the particular characteristics of the various systems.

No Op PC Players do not deserve any special treatment

Well then, you may as well say that XBOX players don't deserve the Kinect voice controls.

The Kinect voice controls are amazing, and I understand why they are Kinect only - the technology of the Kinect allows it and it wouldn't be possible/ wouldn't be as good with other voice recognition software.  I'm not saying that Xbox users shouldn't be allowed to use the Kinect voice controls just because other platforms can't.
The same can be applied to high res textures.  The PC can take it, so why shouldn't PC users be allowed them? Because other platforms can't? That's hardly fair.

All we are asking is that our games are as good as they can be.  The textures in ME2 were frightful and if they're just as bad in ME3 it will look nothing like a 2012 release should.

No. Bioware didn't answer any request from xbox gamers. There hadn't had special treatment. They decided to do that to attract more people, and to sell more. That's only their interest they defended, their business. They could have done the same for PS3 if according to them it was as easy, but it wasn't.

On the opposite, why Bioware would release what you ask, you pc gamers ? I am not against that, but is it in their interest ? Except to satisfy some of you. The comparison with the kinect option is just wrong.

If they give you what you want, that's only because they are kind.

Give Xbox voice commands and PC/PS3, High-res textures. Fair enough.
