It would be difficult to write a good story with all the different choices and deaths. I'll have to wait and see before I can say if they did a goog job. As long as I get to use them in a mission or two I'll be happy.

(2) Virmire Survivor (Soldier/Sentinel) - Spectre, Alliance, humanity, etc plots.
(3) Garrus (Infiltrator) - Turian home world plot relevance I guess?
(4) Tali (Engineer) - Geth/Quarian plot
(5) Miranda (Sentinel) - Cerberus/TIM/humanity plot

Are the only five I'd really like to have. The last two spots could be really whoever. Although I think a cynical Batarian would be great.

all over squads are invalid.   He will defeat the Reapers and still have dinner ready and not have a spec of dust on the  Normandy.

Okay joking aside


The return  of Main Squad of the  Ash, Garrus and Shepard, that  Team meshed the best with my play style.

6.) Mordin

For my immediate squad I'd have these five for sure.

1.) Zaeed
2.) Garrus
3.) Grunt
4.) Jacob
5.) Vega

After my top five it depends on several factors for me.

6-7.) Jack / Samara / unknown new companions

Although I did have all survive the SM, and Ash did make it for my first ME3 import, I'd rather have the others helping in other capacities in ME3. Like Liara staying in her role with help from Thane, Miranda and Kasumi for example. Legion and Tali working with their people, and the same with Wrex. Mordin could keep helping with research and be an STG liaison.

The wildcards are those two new unknowns for me.

Only 7 squad spots? And I get to choose all of 'em, so I don't have to have Vega? (not that I dislike Vega, I just don't know anything about him yet)

In that case, I'd make it:
- VS
- Liara
- Tali
- Garrus
- Wrex
- Mordin because he's made of win and I might get another song
- Legion

The first five are absolute givens (I particularly want the VS, Garrus, and Wrex), the last two I might be more willing to negotiate on. Kasumi might be a possibility, she's pretty cool.
