Optimism Vs Pessimist, why won't you give Mass Effect 3 a chance?

in messages concerning everyone's doubts and what they personally hate about
Mass Effect. When it comes to Mass Effect 3, everyone seems to be a pessimist.
These forums seem to tell Bioware the exact wrong thing. Everyone spends there
time complaining about characters and everything else about Mass Effect.
Why can't everyone just be optimistic about the product they are looking
forward to?
One of the firery and most common hates about Mass Effect 3 is James Vega.
Bioware have spent ages and tons of focus on him to try and tell you he's not
your average slab beffclunk or blast hardchese. Hell, even if he came with the
most emotionally lifting story in the history of gaming, everyone on BSN will
still be calling hate.
Lastly and the largest problem here is Origin. OK. Everyone accepts that it’s
not very popular in this realm of the Internet (If any). We all know about
Origin and its specifications. Sure, it’s always good to inform a less knowledgeable
gamer about such qualms with the online system, but do we really need to get a
stream of hate mail in here? People ranting on about boycotting and even daring
to hint at piracy. You’re directing your anger in the entirely wrong place.
Bioware doesn’t get to make a choice about what Publisher they have.
I was outraged when I discovered that one of my other favourite game sequels
required me to have Steam. Sure, that
may have not been a big issue for other people; but out in my area, my
connection is slow as a trickle. It takes me thirty seconds to load up Google
on some days. The fact of having a system in which I must spend ages
downloading a game I brought through retail infuriated me. It wasn't the games
fault, or the developer. They made the choice to publish with Valve Corp. While
I returned the game, I couldn't help but sigh at what I was missing out on.
Please, Bioware haven’t even told us anything about how Mass Effect 3 will
involve Origin. Direct your hate mail to somewhere else other than Bioware's forums
and really: all this tough speech of talking about not playing Mass Effect 3 at
all is really pointless. Plus, you’re really missing out on something.
Next big thing that sucks about the community here is that everyone is too
focused on their own opinions. I have opinions, you have opinions. That's the
special thing about the Mass Effect fan base; we have different experiences
when playing the game. Whenever someone simply throws something out there such
as this character is better than that other character, everything must start
flinging mud.
Can't anybody here accept other opinions?
Mass Effect 3 is going to be a great game. I've already pre-ordered it and I'm waiting
till March eagerly. Why must everyone be such a pessimist when it comes
to the final instalment of the trilogy?

And as for being around here, I get a sense that there are a lot of sarcastic and sardonic comments that get misinterpreted as being pessimistic, since many seem to be made in jest. So there then appears to be many overly pessimistic comments as a result.
In other words take it all in, with a pinch of salt and a slice of lime!

Simple really, optimists choose what they wanna believe, the others see what's really there

Me personally, I rarely hate (other than on Silverman; how does he have his job again?) because Bioware has not let me down with the first two Mass Effect games. Even though there are things in them I think could be better or don't agree with, overall they blew me away and are my favorite games of all time, so there's no reason or precedent to think ME3 will be any different. I call that "Evidence-Based Optimism."

Hm, right so, the concepts of cynicism and pessimism match with the concept of pragmatism?DarthCaine wrote...

That's quite a balanced view of the world, if I may so remark.

That doesn't makes sense, either optimists and pessimists call themselves realists but it's just a matter of point of view, neither are realists

I'm still buying it, but I already know it will be a regrettable purchase.

When did you get into the Mass Effect series, may I ask? Because everything I saw and read before ME2 was way worse than what I've seen and read so far about ME3, but ME2 still ended up as an amazing game. If you liked ME1 and ME2, then there is no reason why you should think that ME3 is going to be bad.

Buying the game actually makes for a pretty good chance-giver.
@BattlePope - Since you already assume you will regret purchasing it; why not rent it, borrow it, or not buy it, instead?

The first game of course. And from what I've read/heard of the leaked script, and the annoyingly stupid addition of pointless multiplayer, I just see no reason to be optimistic.

I already paid it off ages ago and while I don't think it will be good I'm still willing to take the chance that it might somehow be.

I have not read the leaks and the leaks are rough but the way everyone posts about the leaks on the BSN is giving me second doubts about this game but I am willing to give it a chance. It is Mass Effect afterall. They are so close to release, how can they change the story anyway, that's if they even do? Anyway the Rachni situation has pissed me off.
Play it safe and see what others who have played the game have to say before buying.
Oh and the Rachni situation is just the tip of the iceberg.

Multiplayer is unnecessary (for anything but sales), but it could be entertaining for its own part.
I've read the leaked script and conceptually everything seems great to me. Even if it didn't seem good conceptually though, I really don't think it would be fair to judge the game on a rough concept sketch when you haven't seen it executed with visuals, music, voice over, sound effects, and gameplay in context. So you did like both ME1 and ME2?

I enjoyed both, but prefer 1 by far. I'm also unwilling to believe that any real changes will be made to the script so late in development like Bioware suggested would happen. Devs say things all the time and it almost always ends up being lies, so I'll be happy believing nothing has changed from that script until I'm proven wrong.
