Optimism Vs Pessimist, why won't you give Mass Effect 3 a chance?

The design choices BW has made don't go far to allay many fears either. The whole action mode thing is a head scratcher to me. What's the point? What game are you making here? And RPG or an TPS? Maybe they can successfully appeal to both audiences without compromising either but it scares me. From a design standpoint it would seem that they would have to focus on the action more just to make the action mode viable. I just hope that doesn't come at the cost of deep dialog trees and character development.
Either way I'm going to play it but I do have my worries.

You can't open a post without a reading comment like "I can't believe [insert event or issue here] has happened, I've just cancelled my pre-order. Everyone's cancelling their pre-order it would seem yet when you look at the current figures for pre-orders you can see ME3 sitting at pretty in number two spot with over 400K in the states alone 2 months off release date.
I know allot of people are disappointed at the presumed lack of involvement of the ME2 characters. While I can appreciate where people are coming from I can also remember the avalanche of posts after the release of ME2 claiming these same characters were bland, lifeless and an insult to the outstanding characters we had in ME1. Some people will prefer the ME1 characters and some will prefer the ME2 characters, that's fair enough but the simple fact is that Bioware cannot please everyone. Regardless of who was selected, there would be complaints. For every person who can't stand the idea of Liara being a permanent squad mate there's another who would be devastated if she were not.
Elsewhere I can see people are disappointed that the CE features an additional character which the normal games does not have. What's the problem?, if you want the character go order the CE and pay for it. If you don't then don't.
I'm not for one second suggesting that some of the feedback and complaints on here are not genuine, some are, they're constructive , well thought out and of huge importance. Its just a shame you have to wade through so much negative nonsense to get to them. My current favorite comment is that that ME3 is doomed to failure based on what is currently known. We're talking about an unreleased game from a highly successful franchise here. The complete and utter arrogance to suggest this imminent failure is fact by some posters, having not even played the demo is nothing short of ludicrous. As if that isn't enough, some will even go onto suggest that anyone who doesn't share this notion is naive, short sighted and not living in the real world.
At the end of the day its all just speculation. Until ME3 is released nobody really knows how good or bad the game will be. I for one have complete in faith that Bioware are going to deliver a fitting conclusion to the trilogy. Don't let the negativity get to you OP, treat the nonsense as just that, nonsense. March Effect is fast approaching and I for one cannot wait

looool, it appears my "lowlife" label of you is holding up accurately. Despite all the bans you still keep crawling back to this site. xD
What name have you planned for your next one, Jessica Zeel?

Everything I've seen has told me the exact opposite. But hey, different strokes, right?

(Regarding ME3 or any other EA game, that is. Origin puts EA on the blacklist.)

James Vega is a waste of space when the roster size is so small. He appears to be nothing more than a male Ashley clone. In general, the currently kown roster is pretty laughable with waste of space characters, with only so far one of the known six of eight having anything interesting about them.
Replacing actual powers with "grenades" was an extremely lazy way out and so far the game is shaping up to be ME2.5; which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just seems like they didn't spend enough time working on making new character abilities.
So kind of like when I press a button, something awesome happens?Biotic Sage wrote...
Exactly: Bioware has shown.
There is evidence and precedent that they know what they're doing. I wouldn't even call expecting ME3 to be good optimism, I'd just call it logic (assuming you liked the first two games).
Anyway, I already ordered the CE last week, and I have no reason to cancel it. If anything, I'm a completionist to a fault.

To sit here and say that the game will be great, is pretty idiotic, because none of us know that yet. Same goes for saying it will be a piece of cr*p.

- Retailer exclusive pre-order DLC
- Bonus DLC with action figures
- No ME3 on Steam
- A tacked on multiplayer mode
- Awesome button
All these things make it hard to enjoy these last few weeks up to the release of the game. I have pre-ordered the DDE on Origin and the CE for 360, and I'm not going to change that, but I'm seriously done with BioWare after this.

-- Dumbed down, with stripped out RPG elements in favour of Gears of War style combat.
-- Multiplayer gimmick because EA thinks multiplayer always means more sales.
-- Now we just got news about Origin.
-- Much better games have already been released, by the looks of it.
-- BioWare has lost street cred since DA 2.
---
That said, I'm willing to give it a chance, maybe.
