To any kind person willing and able to help,

I was playing around with the Mass Effect 2 models in 3ds Max today, and was able to successfully extract and texture some characters (started with Garrus), but when I try to apply an animation (using ActorX Importer), I receive the following error message: "MAXScript Rollout Handler Exception: --Unknown system exception." The tutorial I'm using (posted here on these boards, by JeanLuc761) recommends using an animation to gain access to the bones for posing, so this error is pretty restrictive.

As a note: I'm using 3ds Max 2012 on Windows 7 64bit.

If anyone has any suggestions or needs any additional information please let me know, and thank you!

I am having the same problem going to try and see if it works in 3d max 2010 later, could be the fact that it is 2012 and still to new for it to have real plugin and script support.

Maybe you could be my life-saver: i'm a beginner in 3d max and i was wondering if you could recommand a 2d/3d software that is accessible and inexpensive ( sort of ); but something that you really like to work with.

I am only starting in 3d stuff as well but I do a lot of 2d work I personally use Photo-shop but if you want cheap go for Gimp it is the best free-ware photo editing/picture stuff doing program out there.

Blender 3d is good for beginners for 3D modeling, you can find lots of tutorials on the official website, and it is free. (Or it was ~4 months ago when I used it.) ;)

Yeah it works fine with 2010 I think actor-importer is just not up to date for 2012 yet maybe in a few month.
