The thread is only loosely on-topic, but so was the "Lol guys, here's my pro-human manifesto with racial undertones" thread, and I didn't see anyone complain about that one. Or actually someone getting it locked.

Oh come on let the suckups have their fun.

I bet these people send thank you cards for every day their wives/girlfriends don't cheat on them, when their parents don't serve them poisoned food, or when their mailman delivers their mail on time.

Here is a little lesson about the market today.

When you go to the super market, the video game store, or maybe even the book store, 99% of the products that you'll see on the shelves are essentially shovelware.  They are made to take your hard-earned money from you.

Not, extort. Take. They persuade you with fancy covers and titles.
There is nothing wrong with that. People need to make a living, and they do so by selling you these products, towards which they have no emotional attachment. This is the market norm.

Once in a while, however, there will be some manufacturer, author or developer, who will pour his or her soul into the product. They'll sacrifice hours they could have spent with their family to work on it.

And in even rarer occasions, the product will actually create an emotional attachment towards you.
This is what BioWare has done with Mass Effect. Furthermore, while they could have shipped a buggy game (Like they did with KOTOR and ME1, Bethesda did with Oblivion and Skyrim, and Obsidian, with well, pretty much everything they touch), they take time off their holidays and work so that you can have a near perfect product at release, rather than through patches or unofficial mods.

Some people appreciate this extra commitment and love that makes Mass Effect, for them special. You also claim that you don't care, or that "lol come on leave the suck ups alone". And yet, you come in most if not all remotely positive threads and do your best at pissing on other people's parades. It is evident that you care. A lot.

Maybe blunt cynicism works for you. Maybe you feel better if you moan constantly and about everything.
That's not the case for everyone. And for that reason, you ought not to push your beliefs down anyone's throat, as they don't affect you personally at all.

I guess some people enjoy taking joy from others without any basis other than their own desire to try to turn others to their side, we've got plenty of those here, but at the end of the day its down to the individual. whether its their veiw on ME3 or if they wanna sign the card.

Hey, OP. What if I post a tweet on Twitter saying that everyone who retweets this will be added to the Thank-You list? Should I try it?

Phaedon.

If 99% of the shovelware products you mentioned are intended to make my money, then ME must be among that 99%. Unless you're saying that BW didn't create ME to make our money.

My earlier comments are directed at ME3. A game that has yet to be released. I couldn't care less about the 'tons of effort' they're putting in to fix bugs. Or if they had to divorce their spouses in order to have more time to work. Maximum effort is something they SHOULD put in, if they want money and success. And I assume they do. Luckily for them however, I've already pre-ordered a copy and paid in full, so thats already gonna cover one developer's season parking for a month. And frankly, once they've gotten my money, they couldn't care less if I thanked them or not.

Still, if they want my thanks, they'll have to wait until I, the customer, think their product worthy of it. And that can only happen after I've BOUGHT and PLAYED it. Making a thread to thank them for things they are supposed to do anyway AND for a product which you have yet to experience is premature.

But if this is what people need to do to get special perks or become some forum community manager or whatever sheet by all means go ahead. Its my right to laugh at you though. And I am.

Good day Ma'am.

So you don't want to say thanks to the developer who holds their community so highly they let them change FemShep? The developer who cares about us enough to even make another round just so people would be happy with the hair. The developer who realized how much people want RPG features that they made adding them a priority. The developer who possibly changed parts of their game's script because of critiques provided by the community. The people who relized the unrest in the community about Ashley's catsuit and then released a picture of her armor to please them. None of that is worth thanking? And before you answer, I'll tell you, they never had to do any of that. Not one thing. They could have released ME3 and made their money without doing any of that yet they cared enought to listen to their fans almost every step of the way, something I bet most developers don't even think of doing.

It may make sense to thank them after they release the game but after all that they've done for us, I think Bioware deserves to be thanked now.

Just to contribute something to the discussion.

Mass Effect team has never made poor or average game. Sure, we may question the quality of some DLCs, but still...

ME series is among my favourites ( = played more than 10 times). It beats The witcher and DA:O in invested time. I have Collector's edition preordered and I'm looking forward to see Liara's figurine in my collection. :)

Simply put, the game and the universe left an impact.

Therefore, I believe I should show my respect for the dev team. They have never disappointed me, so I will not dissapoint them with unneeded negativity or doubts from my side.

"For everything everyone at BioWare has done, you guys all deserve the highest praise. I've always held the highest hopes for a three-game series with carry-over decisions, and my faith in your role as developer has never been stronger. I know that come March, I will be playing my personal game of the decade. It all comes down to this, and I personally want to thank you all for the excitement and fantastical investment you've brought into my life for the past five and a half years.

The Biggest Thanks-
Jonathan Shepard"

I thought so at first too considering that they're a game company out to make a buck.

But I get a paycheck for my work too and I still like to hear that my work is appreaciated.

I've been critiquing their games on this forum and the forum that came before it since 2006; but I do it because I hold their work in such high regard and because over the years I've seen that they really do listen to their fans.

Maybe once in a while they deserve to hear that; before I start criticizing them again.
