I know it's the end of the series and there's a sense of urgency now, but I so loved the atmosphere of ME1, the occasional drifting spacecraft to explore, that lonely planet with a few abandoned structures and some scant evidence of life. Am I asking for those empty sandbox worlds back? No. But in ME1, I felt a bit like a space explorer, and in ME2 that was entirely gone. I want this back in ME3. At least a little bit of it.

Edit - I put this in the wrong category, meant for it to be in general discussion. If a mod could move it that would be dandy.

Agreed. Would also like something akin to forming safe havens for refugees on some of the more isolated worlds. Maybe they'd give you credits or resources when you return after a while?

For me despite no proof what so ever I believe that their is ancient stations if you will out in dark space with all this information or a library and other stuff out there.

I would truly love to have exploration back in the game but I fear it will not be. :(

Shouldn't this be in general discussion? Anyway, space exploration was pretty cool, except it involved the Mako and it took forever to get to places marked on the map, only to find that my Soldier couldn't hack the damn probe it took five minutes out of my way to get to. XD

Actually, I miss that fact.  ME2 made everthing too easy.  Hacking should take a specialist.  My soldier Shepard hated tech.  :)
The Mako was slow but the only bad thing was the planetscapes used.  Although, after my 50+ playthroughs, I know the easy routes fairly well.
But, even with the annoyances, the feeling of being on a planet (as portrayed in ME1) was fantastic.  I got nothing like that feeling in ME2.  Even the few 'dangerous' worlds were bleh.  At least to me.  Just give me one or two exploration worlds and I would be very happy (as long as the hammerhead is NOT used.)  :)

I wouldn't mind the hammerhead nearly as much if it had armor instead of paper. I prefer the mako more if only because it actually did feel like a rough dirty exploration and assault vehicle, even when it did those silly flips down mountains.

The hammer head, while a joy to actually fly around with, was more frustrating than fun to me. Its like they took the mako, and reversed all of its traits.

Someone, maybe or maybe not Casey, said that ME1 really focused on exploration and discovery, and that's an element they're hoping to recapture in ME3, so there is hope.

Seeing as this is the final game, and also that Bioware is trying to cater to newer players (As stupid as I think that is, it might work to our advantage because) they probably feel the need to give as much depth and backstory to the galaxy they've created as they can.

I hated and despised the mako I much prefer the hammer head, the key to using the hammer head is to stay on the run never stay in one spot like you could with the mako and beat everything.

Maybe with some DLC we can get some cool new systems/planets. Doubt it will fit on the main game disc, though. With all the Reapers and Husks and new squaddies and whatnot...
