I see that some people are worried about the overlap between Adept and Sentinel, and I can assure everyone that they have very distinct play-styles.

Tech Armor works a little differently in ME3. When it's on, it gives you lots of damage protection but slows down your power cooldowns, but it stays on as long as you want until you turn it off.

Also, Lift Grenade is a resource-based power (uses grenades) and has no cooldown. It gives the Sentinel some extra offensive power when things get rough.

Thanks for clarification!

So, tanking Sentinel and power-launching Sentinel are two different modes now. Hm. I wonder what Kaidan's build will be.

My bet?
Token passive ability.
Barrier / Tech Armour (c'mon, every other power has been used by a squadmate/Enemy).
Overload.
Sabotage / Incinerate.
Throw / Pull / Shockwave.

P.S. I didn't put on Warp because A) Liara and possibly the missing Vanguard squadmate could have it and B) having both Warp and Overload on the same character was part of what made Miranda so Overpowered.

My guess was:

Barrier
Pull
Incinerate
Sabotage
L2 Biotic or Spectre Training

Replace Incinerate with Overload, Pull can be upgraded to bypass Armour and in the Original Mass Effect he has Overload (that and, well giving a squadmate Incinerate or Cryo Blast feels like it's crossing into Mordin territory)

I disagree,  I think a Sentinel squadmate should definitely have Warp and Overload.   That direct damage versatility is really the whole point of a Sentinel squadmate in my opinion.

I also don't think Miranda was overpowered because she had Warp and Overload.  While Miranda was very versatile she was rarely the most powerful squadmate against any particular enemy.  She was always a good choice; but rarely the best choice.

I'd like to see  a Sentinel Squaddie with...

Warp, Overload, Throw or Slam, and some sort of power that buffs the whole squad.

When her passive was fully leveled, she would give +15% and +7.5% to health/damage (depends on which evolution she goes with). With Warp AND Overload on the same character that buffs the whole squad, yeah, I'd say Mianda was one of the most powerful/versatile squadmates. Her versatility WAS her power, so to speak.

On insanity, was there ever a mission where it was better to have two squad members OTHER than miranda?

Oh certainly.

Since she has both Warp and Overload there are many situations where only one of her two best powers is really useful.  For example if you were fighting mostly enemies who only had shields then her Warp power wasn't particularly useful and if you were fighting enemies who only had barriers and/or Armor then her Overload power wasn't particularly useful.

Miranda was only hands down the best when you were fighting enemies with shields as well as enemies with barriers or armor during the same mission which probably acounted for about 30% of the missions.

Miranda is never a bad choice at any point in the game; but there are definitely situations where she's outclassed by at least 2 of your other squaddies.   She's definitely useful more often then any other squaddie though and as a Soldier I used her more often then anyone else.

I agree that ovderall she's the most powerful squaddie in the game (excluding Kasumi and her ridiculously overpowered shadow strike); but not in every situation.

Miranda is the Anti-Eclipse. Even on Insanity. Just sit back and let her spam Heavy Over/Warp.

Miranda is indeed a must when fighting Eclipse since they throw a combination of enemies with shields, barriers, and armor at you.

PS:  The game is way more fun and challenging if you turn the active squad power usage off.

I know. What's the point of the squad member cooldown bar otherwise?

Plus she was hot.

There are cases to be made for other squadmates though. Engineer w/ Tali and Legion, for example, could effectively double the size of your squad. It's ridic.

So, does this mean the Adapt's new power is out then? It was more or less the same as Amplification, so was it also scrubbed?

I kind of hope so.  Powers like this are hard to balance.  If you balance the opposition with the assumption they have the power it becomes almost needed, if not then it ends up being too good.(not saying it can't be done, just I have never seen it done well)  And besides it is kind of boring.  On the other hand I don't want a lame biotic grenade on the adept either.  A new biotic power would be cool, but a grenade power not so much.

I saw mention of a grenade for Adepts that flings enemies around, so my bet is that replaces what they had planned for them. Although that would still make their new power as similar to the Sentinel's new power as the old plan for it was to Amplification lol.

I saw no mention of this grenade, the only biotic grenade I have seen is lift orb/lift grenade which has been given to the Sentinel.  Do you have a source.

Also, I would be very surprised if they got rid of Overpower for the Adept, as it is now the only thing seperating the class from being a less than impressive Sentinel (other than a few more physics-based powers).

Agreed. Without Overpower there doesn't seem to be much point to using an Adept.

Pretty sure it's in the known features thread. I think if you click the "combat" button there, the very bottom piece of info is about the Adept grenade. That's IIRC, though; too lazy to check on my iPhone lol.

Unless I was imagining things... o_O

Not sure if it's on BSN (probably is but not sure where), but from Twitter:

what will dinstinguish the adept more since a powerful biotic combo is available for the sentinel now?

Biotic Grenade, which does a ton of force, flinging enemies across the screen. It's awesome. And yes just started Mad Men

Wow...so instead of being creative and following through with giving each class a new unique power that lends itself to the feel of the class (like Nova for Vanguard!), they just decided that it would be easier to give everybody a grenade with slight variations.  Color me unimpressed.

I..well I really don't like the adept having a biotic grenade, it almost sounds like another version of singularity in a grenade. I guess it is suppose to serve as a backup power for when everything else is on cooldown. I do like lift grenade for the sentinel though, I just hope it effects a wide enough area to make up for bad aim.

I don't like it either. So far 3 classes have grenades. Don't know about Infiltrators. I hope they're more creative with the squadmates new exclusive powers.

Infiltrators will have sticky grenades in the co-op.

As for their special power, that's something else.

Same here. The Lift Grenade (coupled with everything else the class has to offer) has me more excited for the Sentinel than any other class right now. Biotic Grenade for Adepts too though? Especially if it replaces Overpower? Not too impressed.

But that actually works out better for me anyway b/c I never really liked the Jed...er, Adept class all that much and don't wanna start now. Hard enough to pick a favorite class as is lol.

I mean it sounds like it could be pretty cool though...
