Do you think he will be a problem for King Bhelen in the future? Do you think he could cause him great opposition from Kal-Sharok or do you think he will do nothing and just wants to settle down? If he does cause problems for Bhelen would you regret helping him?
For those that helped the Carta kill him? what motivation did your Hawke have for doing this?

I don't think he'll be much of a threat to Bhelen, though. A surfacer exile, formerly of a house with little rep or power to begin with... He's not going to change anything, and I'm not sure he wants to. He mostly just seemed to want to get out alive.
Now, I think Bhelen is a threat to himself, and may very well drive the more traditionalist dwarves into a revolt or civil war. But if so, it will be entirely his own doing, and if Renvil ends up leading the opposition it'll only be because he was there when they drew lots, as it were. In such an situation, if it weren't Renvil, it'd be some other random noble on the wrong side of Bhelen's takeover.

As for the dwarves..
I predict a civil war in Orzammar regardless of chosen king. Reformist vs Traditionalists and i could see that solved by a coming DA3 or 4 protagonist. Perhaps by assisting them on getting on the good side of Kal Sharok. Could be epic to have both Dwarven cities in one game.

Dwarven Civil war would be deadly considering they are plagued by the Darkspawn again, and even more-so if they have the Anvil of the Void.. And then theres the Flesh Golems.. I think a civil war between the dwarves and both their thaigs would result in the end of the dwarven kingdoms which we would witness

I was quite sure it was Rivain, but the wiki says it's Nevarra..
Anyway; it why would he try to get to Kal Sharok on the Docks? Kal Sharok is located far in-land between Orlais and the Anderfelts.
He was taking a boat to Rivain from Kirkwall (on his way to his ultimate destination of Kal'Sharok).
I always help Renvil when I get the quest. Most of my Hawke's are mostly decent sorts (the worst I've played is a very self centered rogue and she worked for Athenril and hated the carta and the coterie so she jumped at the chance to raise a little hell with them). Since half my imports are Harrowmont king, I don't always get the quest.
I don't worry about future effects overmuch. As to a dwarven civil war or the darkspawn, it's just a game and if Bioware doesn't want (X) to happen in their game they will just ignore it, and go with the story they want to tell. *Points at her Anders Awakening epilogue slide that had him staying with the Grey Wardens afterward* -- case in point.

To those who sided with Bhelen in Dragon Age Origins. I am just curious as to the fate you decided for Renvil Harrowmont in DA2.. What happened to him in your canon or primary save? Did you help him escape the carta or kill him? and why?
My Hawke helped Renvil. My Surana Warden - who sided with the progressive Prince Bhelen over the traditionalist Lord Harrowmont - might have killed him. I don't try to play the same character, though, and my Antivan-ish (Latino) Hawke didn't have any motivation to kill Renvil.

I don't see Renvil being a threat, since King Bhelen is re-taking the lost thaigs with the warrior caste and the recruited casteless fighters, has expanded trade with the surface, and has an army of golems at his command. I simply see it as rescuing the Harrowmont line from oblivion, by allowing the family line to continue.

Im confused on this point as I'm actually yet to do this quest in Dragon Age 2, but does he go to Rivain or Kal-Sharok? I keep hearing conflicting statements on the matter.
First Renvil goes to Rivain (which is when Hawke meets him), and years later he writes a letter to Hawke addressing that he's heading to Kal-Sharok.

Civil war? Kal-Sharok and Orzammar are seperated by a sea of darkspawn, who have overtaken the dwarven thaigs that fell after the dwarves lost access to the Anvil of the Void (which brought them a hundred years of peace, and fought back against the first Archdemon Dumat).
