Come on we all know the only reason why tali got is is because the talimancers were ****ing about it 24/7,7 days a week and all 365 days of the year.

This, pretty much.

There is no other reason to put her in the squad. She honestly adds nothing important to the universe as a whole, compared to other characters such as Mordin, Miranda or Legion.

This discussion has also been brought up in the Characters-forums. My concusion is, that if they have a real good reason to not be there (such as Samara) or have a eitherway interesting sidestory accoring to the leak (such as Miranda), I am satisfied.

Did the devs say they only put Tali in the game because of the fans?

Yeah I said it.

We have already shown screenshots of Tali as a party member, so that wasn't the news. The news was that she may not have been made a party member, but fan demand for her after ME2 definitely swayed the Devs into making it happen.

And people say BioWare doesn't listen to the fans.

Meh.

Not really a big deal. Sounds like they were going back and forth and that was just their deciding factor. Not like they completely abandoned some big plan they had for her just because her fanbase wanted her back. Besides which, I think she may be optional anyway.

I agree with Spiros on this one, though. If it's better for the character-arc and story, many squadmates are probably better off out of the permasquad. In fact, someone not getting their favorites back on the Normandy really is not missing all that much. Compare DLC Liara to a ME2 LI Squadmate...

Liara in LotSB --
Dialgoue pre-mission.
Dialogue during mission.
Dialogue post-mission (& love scene for Liaramancers).

ME2 Squadmate, romance option --
~ 4 conversations on Normandy.
Love scene.
Mission banter.

Other than party-dialogue, you really do not miss much.

Except when the most-supported squadmate on this site since the inception of ME3 forums is an exclusion (Miranda).

Why do you say Miranda is most supported? Thread with most pages =/= most supported. It means her fans post there a lot.

I'd say she's one of the most (If not THE) most supported characters.

I wish there more people on the BSN with this level of understanding. On both the issues he responded to.

that was DLC mind and very few characters will get that level of depth, but I am starting to agree with that point of view.

But, the Cameos in previous games haven't been great -you can understand some people's fears yes?

Yes. The only difference is, that the Miranda-fans are not as.....*edit* dedicated as the Tali-fans are.

I think in one of those Bioware official stats about ME2 it was said Miranda was the most used and romanced ME2 character. I might be wrong though.

Lol. Yeah, insult the fans. Makes me even happier that MJ is excluded. Tali has more of a reason to be in ME3 anyway. Garrus less so.. but no one complains about Garrus, they just use this another chance to make fun of Talifans. Yay.

Also, I would like to add that a Miranda fan just insulted me in another thread.

11:30 EviLChrisPriestly: Tali was not going to be a party character until the COmmunity (yes, including teh Talimancers) demanded her. She becmae a party member.

Right with you.

edit: If I'm reading you correctly.

Wait, didnt another mod disprove that? Jessica literally did that afterwards. Even ask her. So stop using that to complain about.

On the VS topic, I should say that I actually did mean Kaidan, who ended up living in most of my playthroughs (sometimes on purpose, but in a couple of savegames because I didn't have Genesis yet, so I didn't really have a choice... :P). I just put VS because I do have some playthroughs with Ash in them.

Here, I found her post on the original thread (which she locked thereafter, for the record):

Jessica Merizan said...

Guys, I have never heard this explanation and highly doubt its validity. I will research.

EDIT: spoke to a writer and this info is incorrect.

Jessica's 'clarification' to Chris Priestly extremely FACEPALM WORTHY PR screw-up (saying that Tali was changed to be included because of fan demand) was just damage control really. Chris was telling the truth. But there was nothing good PR wise that could have come from revealing such info. Someone had to clean up. Poor Jessica drew the short straw. Rest is history.

As for the list: A little surprised that Tali is ranked so low. Maybe the orphanages got their internet cut. I dont hate any character. It would be great if we had some flexibility in deciding who we want to fill those 6 precious slots.

Without sounding paranoid, but after reading Chris and then Jess, that's exactly how it sounded.

low? She got 8th highest. Which, imo, is too high considering how... not interesting she was and how little she actually adds aside from perspective into the Quarians. BTW OP I agree with how the ME3 squad should have been: Miranda, without a doubt, should have at least been included as a permanent squadmate against Cerberus. Makes no sense to suddenly have your second-in-command (like it or not) quit her job, pledge herself to your cause, then suddenly only appear as a cameo.

Wrex, though, is pure fanservice. Fan service I approve of  Wrex, where art thou?:pinched:

I think the best way to explain it Garrus is the Robin to Shepard's Batman.

He was a poster character in ME1 and a squadmate in both games so far, so he's seen as a sort of trademark sidekick.
