Jessica's 'clarification' to Chris Priestly extremely FACEPALM WORTHY PR screw-up (saying that Tali was changed to be included because of fan demand) was just damage control really. Chris was telling the truth. But there was nothing good PR wise that could have come from revealing such info. Someone had to clean up. Poor Jessica drew the short straw. Rest is history.

As for the list: A little surprised that Tali is ranked so low. Maybe the orphanages got their internet cut. I dont hate any character. It would be great if we had some flexibility in deciding who we want to fill those 6 precious slots.

low? She got 8th highest. Which, imo, is too high considering how... not interesting she was and how little she actually adds aside from perspective into the Quarians. BTW OP I agree with how the ME3 squad should have been: Miranda, without a doubt, should have at least been included as a permanent squadmate against Cerberus. Makes no sense to suddenly have your second-in-command (like it or not) quit her job, pledge herself to your cause, then suddenly only appear as a cameo.

Wrex, though, is pure fanservice. Fan service I approve of  Wrex, where art thou?:pinched:

Thank god someone else shares this view.

I can understand it's because he's been with shepard since the beginning but something about him seems not very important.

But then again I don't feel any attachment to the ME1 characters. They weren't really fleshed out in ME1. Even when you talk to them - that's all it is. Just stories. You never really get to see them react to situations like the characters in ME2. Idk..maybe it's also because I've played ME1 and 2 so much that, if the characters die, it's alright. They'll be alive in my other ME game.

I do think Miranda is incredibly important and hope she's not just a cameo. I read somewhere that she will be - is this true?

I think the best way to explain it Garrus is the Robin to Shepard's Batman.

He was a poster character in ME1 and a squadmate in both games so far, so he's seen as a sort of trademark sidekick.

It is nice that Shepard has squadmates who are there throughout all three games. That will be at Shepard's side through thick and thin, from start to finish. It really adds something, I feel.:)

Ehh, that's a fair point.

You certainly learned a bit of backstory to SOME of the ME1 characters (Ash and Wrex in particular, imo), but aside from that, nothing else really fleshed them out. And it takes a bit more than backstory to make a character.

IMO Miranda fan should have been. More agressive, ruthless, vocal and annoying as the Talimancers in the begining.

You would have gotten what you wanted.

Oh, the insults and nerdrage. If I wasn't so happy with how ME3 is shaping up, I might almost be offended. Luckily I'm not.:D

edit: And look, another post of fanbase-bashing! How delightfully mature!

I'm not even certain that's humanly possible.

The way your average Talimancer acts, you'd mistake them for Regan from the Exorcist.

Maybe that's the reason? In ME1 you learn Garrus was ex-military, a Spectre candidate, and somebody who does anything to protect innocents but still has a code of honor. This set him up nicely against the Human Officer with a tragic past, the Human Enlisted who can't shine, the Krogan merc with a colored past, and the Asari/Quarian virgin who have no idea what's going on or how they got involved.

Then in ME2 you find out that Garrus' talk of his desire to protect innocents while still living by a code of honor weren't just empty boasts. He goes friggin Batman gathering an elite team and starting a personal war against the scum of the galaxy. He gets betrayed and looks to honor the memories of his friends. Doesn't do it for money, nor for fame, but because of his honor. Dude gets mad respects:police:

Basically ME1 character-development was about backstory, ME2 character-development was about action. Garrus, Tali, Liara, and arguably Wrex are the only ones who get to benefit from both. Unfortunately, Tali turns out to be extremely incompetent and Liara had such a severe personality change that until LotSB was released her fans were crying retcon. Garrus was the only one who came out unscathed and actually benefitted from it. Wrex also benefitted but he'd rather be King of the Krogans than be my #2 again <_< Selfish-son-of-a-#*%)@

Well, for me, Wrex stayed that tough SOB to me, (and I think politics suck royally, so more power to Wrex and the Krogan clans).

Liara stayed that eternal optimist (that was a significant sacrifice and commitment on her part, before the start of ME2 and then LotSB),

Garrus was Batman incarnate (what's not to love about that dude?),

and the VS (for half of mine, Ash) went off and was meh.

So with their (ME1 crew) mostly success, I was happy to have Zaeed (although I was OK bring down that loser, Santiago), Grunt (always defeating that Maw, I didn't know one could lose to the Thresher Maw until getting active around the BSN!) and Jacob (it's too easy to knock him, but he is a professional, nonetheless) follow Shepard. And I was good with their personalities too.

Not only is this missing the point, but the phrase you used was taken completely out of context.

What is the point?

I want Miranda in my squad just as much as you.

Tali got her squadmate status due to fandom crying.

If the Miranda fandom acted like that instead of politely supporting them in the support thread. And acted like Talifans by spamming the forum with numerous Tali threads.

We could have had Miranda as a squadie.

Crying now does nothing. I am just showing my regret.

I agree. Believe it or not I was actually a huge tali fan in ME1, then I got to got to ME2 and  realised that it wasn't so much that I thought she was interesting ( although in ME1 she was the least offensive/most likeable female in the squad ) instead I was more interested in learning about the Quarians, the creation of the Geath, having to leave thier homeworld, how they live now, thier immune systems, etc. In hindsight I now realise that most of ME1's squad existed mainly to help us learn more about the ME Universe ( at least the alien ones, The Asari, the Turian, the Krogan and the Quarian ).

You sure? I thought it was just because they wanted a complete ME1 squad with Liara, VS, Garrus.
