Plus, I just never cared for ANY romances. It's always felt fake, like a forced relationship. I also like to think of Shepard as being too busy - with saren, with the collectors - to actually take time to romance someone.
Maybe that'll change in me3? With the onset of a huge galactic war, I'm sure it'd get pretty daunting at times.. I'm hoping Kaidan or vega will be s/s LI - if written well. If it's like ME1 or 2 (which, again..felt kind of fake to me), then I guess shepard will be forever alone guy.

My second character, Aeryn Shepard, she's single. Maybe in ME3 she'll find someone for her. Like Vega. Or Jack if she will be LI for female.

My male shep, Bruce, is all about Jack, 'cause that's the kind of guy he is.

I mean, MAYBE Jacob, but my femSheps never romanced him, so I didn't get his whole storyline and what I saw on youtube wasn't convincing.
Thane was cool, but a little TOO aloof.
Garrus' romance seemed more like "fan-service" or just a "we have to balance out the Tali romance" move.
Kaidan was very insecure/indecisive.
Maybe Vega will come through. Although, I thought I heard that there will be no new LI's in ME3.

For my paragon FemShep, she's going to attempt to rekindle her undying love for Liara... so no relationships in ME2. ;-)

Trying to be an objective straight male, I agree with you on all the points you listed above. I feel none of the male NPC's really had any chemistry with my paragon FemShep. She's strong, smart, confident, beautriful and only really seemed more of a match to "vulnerable" female NPC's... hence the Liara relationship, but no relationships in ME2. All the characteristics you listed above are exactly the reason why I shrugged them off.
I believe the perfect male companion would have been a "Jack Sparrow" type of character. A renegade type character who's handsome, witty, and charming. In dialogue, he'll always playfully challenge Shepard and even when he's not around she'll be thinking of him. Her feelings could be a mix of repulsion and intrigue.
A conversation in ME2 could've gone like...
Shepard: "You should really get your act together, this is a serious matter!"
Male: "Oh.... you mean going on a suicide mission to fight the harbingers of death from dark space. I'm sure that you and this motley crew of human terrorists (Cerberus), an assasin robot, and a psychotic biotic among others have things well in hand. (wink)
And besides... you shouldn't be getting madder at me my the day... I heard this wasn't good for your pretty face. (Smiling wryly as he gently caresses her cheek with the back of his fingers as he outlines the scars on her face)
Shepard: "Trust me... I look better than you with or without scars any day of the week." (Walks out of the room but with an ever so faint smile coming across her face.)
I know this isn't that great since it's off the top of my head, but something like this could have really added to the chemistry between a Femshep and a male NPC.
But what did we expect... how many dates did the Bioware staff get to go on while making this game! Haha, j/k! :-)

Why? 'It's a taxi, it has a fare meter' and '...a lot of little blue children' might give you an indication:D.
But seriously, it all started in ME1 when during the confrontation with Krogan battlemaster on Therum she gives Shepard this sideway look (when the commander refuses to surrender her to Saren's cronies). And later on she's clumsy and adorable, and all into science, and oh so focused on Protheans and helping Shapard to save the galaxy. Which changes in ME2, where suddenly she's much colder and not innocent at all. I do understand why some people preferred to romance someone else. I would probably do the same. My Shep, however - being a full paragon and all - decided to be heartbroken and noble and not to give up. And then there was LotSB.
Simply put - I like Liara. She's a layered character, deep and always growing. Also intelligent, iron-willed, loyal, understanding, focused and capable. Despite the way you first meet her, she's no damsel in distress. She supports Shepard, whether she's LI or not, and you can almost feel the way she cares for the commander. During both games their relationship develops, which makes it so much more enjoyable. My Shepard agrees with me:D.
Thus said I will be creating male Shep to romance Ashley, and another one for Tali. I like them too.

As female Shep, Garrus all the way, that voice, those eyes, and his attitude make him soooo damn sexy! Didn't even have a LI in the first one, no point if I could be with Garrus.

why?
according to the leaked script, she is like Joker in that she has Vrolik's syndrome and will need someone to care for her, and Artemis is the Spectre to do that.

I totally agree.
If femShep is as badass as she is made out to be, she most likely wouldn't fall for anyone short of a badass of equal or only-slightly-lesser magnitude.

Athena Shepard romanced Liara cause Kaiden was too weak. But she fell for Thane. He gets her in a way no one else does. She is like Achilles in her fury. And he has given her peace. If he has to die, I only hope Bioware gives them a chance to say goodbye.
Revan Shepard is romancing Ashley in ME. I'm not sure if he will be faithful.
Daenerys Shepard is still up in the air as to who she will be with.

yeesh, calm down, a said probably to her, due to the fact that i might head canon Artemis to once being in love and wants to get her very first LI back. (who is not in-game)
edit: also just scratched it out ok. plus i do not know how to do spoilers.

Just couldn't pass this up... TOO awesome.
And I was surprised... considering all the fan art out there, I figured there'd be a lot of what I was looking for. This was pretty, much it, though. This is the picture I will think of when people ask me who I want to romance:
