I don't get how you can treat your loyal customers like this for a little money. People, who have supported you over years. And that's how you thank us? With silence? You should be ashamed.

People from Bioware who are here with us can´t do anything or say anything, that is against orders of those bureaucrats who live in their ivory tower of EA HQ.

Those bureaucrats think, that customers are just numbers in their awesome profit charts. And if we don´t behave like they want we are wrong, not them.

While I'd like to give BioWare the benefit of the doubt, the fact is we don't know what their role is in this. I'd sure like to know what Ray Muzyka's, Greg Zeschuk's, and Casey Hudson's stances are on this matter. They are probably the three most powerful people involved in the Mass Effect Franchise outside of the EA executives. It's hard for me to believe that their words would not carry any weight regarding Origin.

They all answer to their mother, who is also their publisher.

You won't hear a word from them unless it's cleared with the big brass. Their word might carry some weight, but as it is with corporate life, they aren't at liberty to discuss business policy unless they have the go.

Is there any news if Origin will be mandatory for Mass Effect 3?

That's true, but my point was that it's premature to say which side BioWare is on or if they're on any side at all. They could just not care.

In that particluar context it usually means that they collect the data in a way that is not personal identifiable. They don't store it in a way thats linked to the specific accounts, but use it for statistical purposes. If they go ahead and link it to individuals anyway, then they are in violation of their own terms.

A lot of data can be used in a personally identifiable way, and a non-personal identifiable way. It's the way it's used that matters not the content of the data.

Yes, of course, it's the way it's used that matters and another point is the purpose of collecting.
I don't know what an usually meaning means and frankly speaking I don't care what someone else (Steam, FB, whoever) is doing, because this is about Origin. I also don't care what usually practice is, EA has to respect the law. If the usually practice is against the law they have to stop it.

You are missing one point: EA knows who you are when you are using Origin, because you have to login and register. Right? As a SP maybe not all the time but once you have to, as a MP you are always logged in. A lot of people don't use fake emails or game cards or whatever to remain anonymous, because they just don't care. Ok, it's their choice. At this point (login) EA has their full identity.

Here is the part directly after the quoted one above ^^:

This and all other data provided to EA and/or collected by EA in connection with your installation and use of this Application is collected, used, stored and transmitted in accordance with EA’s Privacy Policy located at www.ea.com.

Do you see? The data will connected with you and all the data EA has collected about you.
I hope there is not only one big database! EA doesn't explain which data and how these data will be seperated or secured.

So, I read these purposes for data collecting:
1. improving our products and services = advertisement
2. troubleshooting bugs = my ME3 isn't running, I need help
3. enhancing your user experience = I really don't know what it means, seriously, if somebody knows please tell me. Maybe a better game?

1. For advertising EA doesn't need any of my data, they already know the game I'm playing. They can push the DLC banner right through. If I want to use EA services or products I will. I don't need improved services.

2. How will EA help me out if they don't know, who I am? The support people have to know it (BTW: I read in some posts they are asking your real name? Can anyone confirm this?). Ok, for the support it is helpfully to know what OS, hardware and drivers etc. are installed. But no more. Doesn't make sense to know what Office I'm using or how often I'm starting the browser. (software, software usage)

3. I don't know what it means, data collection doesn't make sense either way.

All these data are collected for one purpose: creating a customer profile.
What you are playing, how often you play, what programs you are using... This profile also contains all your IPs (there is no delete declaration in the Privacy Policy). This profile also contains all your account data (email, credit card, address,...). This profile also contains your browser activities (read the Privacy Policy and TOS). This profile is of course connected with you, because EA want you to buy the next game. This isn't bad per se, not at all. But collecting my data for this and declaring another purpose and forcing me to use this - this is not good. Nope. EA knows more about you as your neighbour.

If Origin doesn't bother other people, fine, I have no problem with this. It's their decision.
But: I don't like this, I don't need this, I don't want this. And I have the right to think in this way.
I hope BW will publish ME3 with an optional Origin, so I can simply buy and enjoy the game.

I found this post by Stanley Woo in another unrelated thread and I think it may be appropro to post it here. It would have been nice if he - or someone from BioWare - had said something honest like this in this thread instead of ignoring the issue with either silence or irrelevant warnings concering poster decorum.

We're not holding back information or being "cryptic" in order to mess with you guys, honest. We actually have restrictions on whether we can say anything as well on what exactly we can and can't say. Some of those restrictions may be marketing-related, some may be business-related, and some may be legal issues. Heck, some of it might even be none o' your beeswax regardless of how badly you want to know or how many times you ask/demand. Unthinkable, I know, but it does happen on occasion. :)
