Some interesting thingz. :D

"C.  Access to Online Features And/Or Services.  An EA/Origin Account, including the acceptance of EA’s online Terms of Service (http://terms.ea.com) and Privacy Policy (http://privacy.ea.com) and registration with the serial code enclosed with the Software, may be required to access online services and/or features. Only licensed software can be used to access online services and/or features, including downloadable content and access to such features, is limited to you and your immediate family or members of your household."

Straight from the second page. I like how it doesn't say YOU NEED ORIGIN CLIENT like the other EULAs we've seen for ME3. You sure this isn't the Xbox 360 versions EULA?

The PC EULA here:
http://store.origin....uctID=230773600

States:
INTERNET CONNECTION REQUIRED FOR PRODUCT ACTIVATION

INTERNET CONNECTION, EA/ORIGIN ACCOUNT, ACCEPTANCE OF PRODUCT AND ORIGIN END USER LICENSE AGREEMENTS, INSTALLATION OF THE ORIGIN CLIENT SOFTWARE (WWW.ORIGIN.COM/ABOUT) AND REGISTRATION WITH ENCLOSED SINGLE-USE SERIAL CODE(S) REQUIRED TO PLAY, ACCESS BONUS CONTENT (IF ANY) AND ACCESS ONLINE SERVICES. SERIAL CODE REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO ONE EA/ORIGIN ACCOUNT PER SERIAL CODE. SERIAL CODE(S) ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE ONCE USED. EULAS AND ADDITIONAL DISCLOSURES CAN BE FOUND AT WWW.EA.COM/1/PRODUCT-EULAS. EA ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY AND TERMS OF SERVICE CAN BE FOUND AT WWW.EA.COM. YOU MUST BE 13+ TO ACTIVATE SOFTWARE, ACCESS ONLINE FEATURES AND REGISTER FOR AN EA/ORIGIN ACCOUNT. EA MAY RETIRE ONLINE FEATURES AND DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT AFTER 30 DAYS NOTICE POSTED ON WWW.EA.COM/2/SERVICE-UPDATES.[/b]

...once again, you sure that's the PC version's EULA?

Why don't you save yourself the trouble and leave Bioware in the heap it's in now?

Because I invested hundreds of hours between both Mass Effect and want to see the end of the story.

I wonder how much they would demand? When they are free, then the gaming world can finally be at peace.

It's not like EA forced Bioware to join them. It was Bioware's decision to accept EA's offer.

Settle down commander.
What seems like a good offer can quicky turn sour. And then you suddenly sit knee deep in the mud with a corporate boot on your neck  forcing you to mix crap into your art, surrounded by upset fans.

Of course, but I they should've know that EA would've influenced the way Bioware would develop their games. Or do you think that they didn't know how EA  works?

I honestly think that, if the tactic is just "don't buy it" EA has already won. ME3 is probably sell a lot more copies than ME and ME2, and they are going to continue with Origin.

I'm not so sure. In my opinion it will see more or less like ME and ME2.

More than half a million preorders tell my it's gonna be bigger than before.

What have both games sold?  3-4 million a piece?  I doubt it'll top 5 million, especially if the rumored Diablo III release is true.

Oh, you too! *HIGH FIVE* I'm not going to let EABioware use that as an excuse to coax me into paying for the crap Mass Effect has been turned into.

So it seems you only need the Origin software to activate ME3 during installation. That's fine by me. As long as I don't need to run Origin while playing I feel no need to complain.

Beuatifully stated.  Both simple, short and with an undeniable truth in it.  Well done.

As far as know, ME was under 3 million. ME2 was more or less the same before the PS3 release, though in truth there are conflicted sources about it.

I don't know about the preorder of ME and ME2. Where did you get that info?
Though it's normale that the preorder this time is bigger than before, since it runs with 3 platforms from the start.
It's a good number, but that doesn't mean much. DA2 has a lot of preorder, due to DAO popularity, but it sells less than DAO.

Lets not speculate too much. Short sighted greed or needed economic relief can make us all do things that are not good for us in the long run.

But I do think that Bioware would prefer not using origin, given they had a choice.
And I do belive they as developers generally care about quality and have no desire frakking the fans over.

And I think that's just for USA.

Also this chart is interesting: http://img.photobuck.../ME3vsME2-6.png

DA2 sais hello. Despite what people thinks about the game, it still is one ot the buggiest game ever released by Bioware. with a game-breaking bug.
There are other reason I could say to explain why Bioware/EA rushed (in my opinion) the game, but it's my opinions, so they could be wrong, and I would prefer to not going off topic. The bug fest is more objective, so used it as an example.
Though I could agree with you with Origin

Thanks.
The second chart couldn't be used as a reference. A lot of analist made in the past some hypothesis about the succes of failure of a game, console, etc, and they resulted to be wrong.

Well, it says, it excludes members of the European Union. So it seems, we're in the clear anyway.

I would have been highly surprised if the Origin invasiveness would have held water with European legislation. Even more so, since there has already been a complaint by the German Cosumer protection authority.

One thing that always bugged me to no end - you cant resell games these days. T
To agree or disagree with the license you HAVE TO PUT THE DISC in the drive - thus open the case. No seller (in my country at least) will take it back and give refund. There are problems with games which hasnt been opened as well tbh.
So what the hell am I suppose to do with a product with an EULA that is not user/buyer-friendly?

Are there video games with user/buyer friendly EULA's to begin with?

Well, EA's EULA says you should receive a refund if you don't accept it.

That doesn't mean the retailer has to accept it back.  The EULA is between you and EA.  The return policy of a store is between you and the store.  Whether a store wants to buy it off of you to resell is between you and the store, as well.

Before installing the package and within 30 days.

It's just about five years ago that I sold off my old games on ebay. Now you're stuck with what you got.

At lest in EU nations they are forced to give refunds. But still their first word is always "NO", because they know few many people know which their rights are.

You know, with all the BF3 fuss in Germany retailers (amazon included) where giving refunds even for activated copies.

I have a question. How come EA hasn't been punished for this? Isn't there some law somewhere that prohibits spying on people?

I’m wondering how many people noticed and read the "Privacy Policy UPDATE" at the bottom of the forum (EA box -- "Corporate" menu).
