My PC is level 8, and trying to get to Orzammar but I'm getting slaughtered by the bounty hunters at the Frostback mountain pass! Posted Image

Is my level too low for this area? The dual wielding bounty hunter in particular, if my PC (2H warrior) closes with him, he goes down fast..

I can beat them with clever tactics, but damn, they shouldn't be that difficult!

I agree they are ridiculously hard to kill. They are far harder then most of what you find in Orzammar and the deep roads.

Its mostly because the leader uses momentum and face rapes everyone.

So you think I should wait and level up a bit?

I can beat them with clever strategy, but I was just bemused at how difficult they were. They are by far the hardest encounter I've had so far..

At first I thought my PC may have been underpowered, but he's been kicking tail so far in the game, with the exception of these bounty hunters.

If you cant beat them with you current character then you should probably wait. The circle is a pretty easy quest and you'll get probably 2 levels as well as the +1s to your stats.

Thanks for the advice dude. I think I'm going to do the circle quest then, because I'm having a helluva time with these guys.

I think I could beat them if I'm lucky. My tactic was for Morrigan to cast cone of cold on the three warriors and freeze them, while my PC attempts to shatter the leader with mighty blow.....one shot one kill.

But, most of the time, the leader doesn't shatter, and he seems to have a lot more hit points than I do.

The more I play this game, the more I think it really should have a 6 party system rather than 4, because facing enemies like these that not only have abilities superior to your own party, but outnumber you as well.

To my knowledge Orzammar is one of the few areas of the game that doesn't scale to your level any lower then 10 or so. Meaning if you go there at 8 you're still facing mobs 2-3 levels higher then yours, as they won't scale any lower then 10 or something.

Not sure where I heard this or if it's true, but I went there first and got slaughtered too (though I did manage to make it through on Normal, was extremely difficult, had to notch it down from Hard).

I just beat them! :) I used Shale to go after the mage in the back, while Morrigan froze the warriors and my guy hacked them to bits..

Still, I think I'm going to do the Circle quest first anyway. I want to come back and face these guys on my terms.

The reason why I wanted to go there in the first place, was to get the berserker specialization.

I guess the bounty hunters are a 'gating encounter', that shows how difficult that area is.

A well placed force field on the leader of a difficult pack tends to even the odds (of course so does taunt and FF on your tank >.>).
