*Sigh* So depressed now, to hear of an expansion pack in the works for DA2 only to be told "sorry, we were making it but now can't be bothered, say goodbye to Hawke!" at the same time? Between this and the emotional effect ME3 had on my mind (I mean the *good* sad parts, not the ending, bleh), BioWare, you are killing me.

As much as it might sound like we just decided 'we can't be bothered', I doubt you'd find anyone who feels more regret about the expansion's death than the people working on it. That's not to say it was the wrong decision - but there was a lot of passion and thought put into it. Having said that, there's no small part of it that we were able to salvage, and we think our future products will be all the better for it.

Sorry, I really do apoligise.  I didn't mean it to sound vicious, I am just really disappointed because I *really* loved Dragon Age II.  I played it 5 times in a row (9 times overall between my PS3 and 360 versions) and I have not replayed a game even once, in a very very long time.  Come to think of it, the only games I have replayed since the Saturn/PS1 days other than DA2 is DAO and ME1-3!   That was after I finally forced myself to stop playing DA2 :D

I really just want to express how much I love the game and thank you guys for giving me one of the most special and memorible gaming experiences I've had in the last 25 years.  I can't wait for DA3, but, I only ever dreamed of an expansion pack for DA2 and didn't think it would happen so to know that is *was* happening has made me die a little inside.

One of the most exciting game moments for me last year was watching that EA press conference at 4am, going through all the boring sports crap and iOS rubbish to get to info about Legacy.  That excitment was only bettered the day I actually got to download it.

I've been on the forums since DA2 shipped, so no worries, you'll have to be significantly more insulting to sound vicious to my jaded ears ;)

Seems you did not play the Witcher 2 it makes DA2 look like the cheap nasty product it is.By rights a smaller company with no where near the budget should not be able to make a game that puts the other companies offering to shame.

I've played the Witcher 2 and I disagree.

Moreover, if DA II had given you a single, predefined PC, no team based combat, twitch-based attacks, and only a handful of weaponry and armor, people would scream bloody hell about it. It's not that the Witcher 2 is better, it's that people judge BioWare games on completely different criteria than games like the Witcher, Deus Ex, Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur, or Diablo.

You should actually look at the credits on the Witcher 2. I was interested in seeing how a "small" developer did such an immense game, and I stopped counting unique names after 200. The Witcher 2 actually had a larger team and a significantly longer development time than DA2 did.

I'd have to say...probably Skyrim, and after that DAII.

I disagree, Minecraft gave it a run for its money, but eventually it just got too repetitive.

  That's exactly why I felt the need to say how much I <3 DA2 and what a special experience it was for me when I made this thread :D

Skyrim had an amazing soundtrack, beautiful landscapes, and great gameplay.
But for some reason... It wasn't as fun as I wanted it to be. Dragon Age II was good too. Not sure about my favourite 2011 game really.

Waited so long for ME3, I stopped caring. Then as it got closer, I started caring more. It was weird though, because I didn't have that excitement that I had when I opened ME2. I was more contained, but still happy.

I think I got so excited for Skyrim, that I allowed myself to be let down a little. My hype was all used up lol.

I think Limbo was my favorite game of 2011. I even wrote a small essay about its use of cruelty to the player and how that worked in its favor. I liked how it was an anti-PORTAL.

My favorite game of 2011?

Skyrim, no doubt.

I liked DA2, but not to include it between my favorite games of the year. Sad, because DAO was by far my favorite game of 2009.

Dragonage II was my most disappointing game of 2011 hands down. Duke Nukem Forever also game out in 2011 right? So that takes a fierce second.

Not sure what my favorite would be. Deus Ex: HR probably, that was the first game since my teens(probably) that I played for literally 24 hours straight. God bless the weekend.

EDIT: By disappointing, I don't mean worst. No. Sonic '06 gets that. Every year forever. Not sure what this years in specific would be though.

DA2 would be in my top five (Dead Space 2 = #1). Although I feel Bioware really dropped the ball with what DA2 could have been I still enjoyed it way more than other titles.

Alas, when it comes down to it, DAII was probably the worst game I bought in 2011.
