Dragon Age 2 was by far my favourite game of 2011

Glad you loved it.

I thought it was an ok game if considered alone, but the steps backwards from the much, much better DAO were unforgivable.

It was the worst game I played.

I just wanted to let Bioware know that as well.

I'm tempted to agree, DA2 was great. But I would pick Skyrim if it were to actually stay playable on PS3 before the lag set in.

I'm glad the OP liked it.

I didn't. I hated it. But that's me.

I'm refraining from posting why I didn't like the game, because I've done that many times before.

This is more or less how I feel about it.

DA2's direness *for me* barely seems worth explanation any more. I'm happy for anyone who loved this game, like the OP. Good for them.

In spite of that, I am glad people occasionally clear their throats noisily around gushers, to signal that the direness didn't "get better" because we ignored it.

Yes
god forbid someone post a positive opinion in a non trollish manner
without having the thread jumped on by those who hate the game.

You guys need to grow up and move on.

I don't think "grow up" is constructive and mature, I think it's provocative and pejorative.

Did you seriously post this in the hope of not seeing an argument? Hrm, come on, now.

The arguments against DA2 have been expounded on at length numerous times, I don't think one has to re list each one again simply for the benefit of stating they didn't like it.

Sure but I also think posting drive by responses, whether negative or positive, to the opposite opinion at this stage is even less needed and is simply being inflammatory (yes I do realise the irony in this statement before anyone points it out).

^That for sure.

But I think they've learned their lesson.

They better have.

Compelling characters and story can elevate a flawed game.

The writing team at Bioware is so important.

I'd be tempted to agree if DA2 had a macho dragon mod.

I disliked Jade Empire more than DA2, so it's not my least favorite Bioware game. It's not my least favorite game of the year, either, but it's not my favorite.

Which is sad, because I really, really was looking forward to DA:O's sequel.

Glad to find somebody else who can look past the flaws and find a decent game. Much love OP. Still hope they improve DA II (and III) of course.

Dude if you don't already know there is a way toget rid of the lag on PS3. Just go to "Saved Data Utility (PS3)" on your XMB and delete all your auto saves, this clears up space and clears the lag issue, at least for me.

Hope it helps!:)

Lucky for you, but it didn't help me when I did it when I still had the game, I even played a game with just one manual save file after clearing it, it lagged faster believe it or not. I'm just gonna wait and see if it ever gets fixed then buy the goty edition, assuming it is ever "completely" fixed. If not I'll be buying a 360 for the sake of FO3 goty, FONV ultimate edition, and Skyrim's inevitable goty and any game making use of the "smiliar" engine. I like the games too good to simply not play them at all.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully it will be fixed. But if you do intend to get the games on Xbox I guess it could worse (you might not have the Xbox AND the PS3). Good luck with that anyway.

I'd put DA2 in my top 5 of 2011 for sure. Probably 4th, unless I'm forgetting something. And I played lots of games last year.

It's rare that a game's difficulty kicks my butt these days, but DAII did, and there were a couple of really poignant "Wow" story moments for me. Can't wait for whatever is next. I hope it's a hefty ep.

Good that you got some enjoyment out of it.

Personally, it had to be my biggest disappointment of the year, my most regretful pre-order ever, and quite possibly my most disappointing sequel ever.

Dragon Age 2 was the first and only Bioware game I traded in and that goes as far back as BG2...it is also the only Bioware game I had no desire to play through a second time...it is the worst Bioware game I have played topping Shadows of Undrentide which at least was only a terrible expansion...

DA2 is the second best Bioware game after Jade Empire.

First off, OP, Glad you liked the game.  Wish I could say the same, but for me it was a pile of steaming   garbage that insulted my intelligence  the longer I played.

That said, on to the pointless:

So why am I writing all of this when nobody will care?  Simply because I want to let BioWare know how much I loved the game and how special it now is to me.

That's nice.  But  You're wasting your time.  Many many MORE people did the same thing after they played DA:O.    They  *really* let Bioware (and EA) know how  terrific DA:O was.  And what did we get out of it?   A snub.    A 180 for the sequel.   A massive hatchet-job overhaul that removed most of what we loved.

I suspect that  consumer praise only means so much to a company.  And apparently, not enough to affect their actions.

Bioware made a perfectly decent game, that could have been better. It did some things wrong, but none of that spoiled my ability to enjoy what it did right..

Pretty much my sentiments. Definitely a let down from Origins, but not this abortion so many were making it out to be either.

I won't speak to favorites or even to "good" or "bad", but I can say DA2 is probably the only 2011 game I'll ever play again.

Take it for what it is.

Good for you, OP.

I personally have to give my vote to Portal 2, with honorable mentions to Deus Ex: HR and (especially) Dark Souls. I had a great Dragon Age 2 playthrough, but for some reason couldn't stay focused enough for a second one.

Oh god, I had forgotten about that POS, though I must say compared to DA2 it somehow manages to compare favourably.

To anyone who actually enjoyed DA2, or some how managed to think it was better than DAO, good for you. Just realise that most people don't live in your fantasy dream land. I just hope Bioware learnt their lesson for DA3. I for one know that if Hawke is back again, won't bother to buy it.

Nice to know that you can now speak for most people. As far as fantasy dream land that is where I go to escape real life and there is only one inhabitant in it who is quite happy.

Bioware learning a lesson? That would depend on what the lesson is and which teachers they are listening to.
