It says i need to delete the unofficial ones when an offical patch comes, with my memory id rather wait for the offical one. Has bioware said anything about when the official version will come out? Or if it is even included in the next patch they release?

They haven't said. I would assume it'll be in the next big content patch, but they have to fix some things first (adjust enemy archer damage on lower difficulties, etc). I don't think they've hinted at when this would be. I would assume, though, that the core files would simply be overwritten by the patcher. You just have to delete the hotfix from the override folder, the game will look to the core files, and everything will be back to normal (or fixed, in this case) - not really something to worry about.

I've also heard the hotfix breaks Shale's armor rating, so if you want to use him/her/it, that's another reason to hold off.

edit: spelling

Georg released a hotfix, because daggers currently only get a damage bonus from Strength, rather than half from Strength and half from Dexterity. The fix also changes a number of other things, like increasing the effectiveness of bows.

Here are the notes:

It also screws up shale and potentially everyone in your party. So beware before installing,

How is that?

Edit: Nevermind, I read your post in the "small shale problem" thread. That is unfortunate, and doesn't make much sense.

The armor crystals work if you delete the shale entries in the file, but the attack crystals do not change the damage value. Essentially the hotfix makes whatever shale is equiped with his base (naked) value, so if you remove the crystal his armor goes into negative resulting in a 0 armor value and a -10% fatique. For some reason Alistar and Sten also have this bug and have now have a base value of -10% for fatigue, although everything else seems to be ok based on my limited testing. Unfortunatly this change is permanent and effects every saved game, so no matter if i load a completly new file the effects for shale and the rest of my teamates are there, even if the hotfix is removed.

So even if I was to remove the hotfix files and start a NEW game with a new character, I would still encounter problems?

Hi just to let you all know that this is an issue we're presently evaluating but you'll have to wait for an official announcement on the patch. Thanks for your patience!

Al's making me wonder.  Does Bioware have people draw lots to find out who goes on the forum and tries to let people know their issue is recognized.

His heart doesn't seem in it.

New characters created without the hotfix do not have the problems. Any characters that join you after the hotfix is applied could be affected, and any characters that you have already recruited will be affected.

Anyone with a normal shale that can see if adding the damage crystals actually increase his damage? In my game nothing changes when I add them, so the only way to increase his damage is by increasing his strength.

You might as well have just not answered the question.  The obvious dodge you put in the place of an answer only makes you look bad.

Oh Taleroth! Trust me I am sincere, unfortunately I just can't give you much information in regards to this issue. As far as forum responses go though I'm presently just trying to lend a hand when I can as most of the team is pretty busy these days.

Oh, I understand.  What you're doing here is important, people like to know their concerns or problems are acknowledged, your responses just seem kind of canned.  But that's probably just the nature of the beast.

At least get an avatar!

Were talking about a bug in the forums, one of the devs posts a reply letting us know they are working on it. And you attack him for it?? WTF?? I think it is great they communicate these things to us.

Thank you.

The answer you originally gave could have been given by me and had the same effect.  I figured that you probably couldn't give us a direct date, but stating that you don't know, and that someone else might, is better than saying "we are working on it" or something to that effect.

Sorry if I came across as an ass earlier or even now, I mean no offense, and I appreciate you trying to keep the community up to date.

Avatar? Check! Yeah I can see how the responses seem canned, I'm trying to find the issues that I know we are definitely evaluating and reassuring the community that we are paying attention to your needs. For some topics I just can't tell you more than that unfortunately! I'm sure you'll hear something official soon...

IMO it's just nice to know that Bioware people are actually reading the forums. I know the ETA of patches and these sorts of things are "when it's ready." Thanks.

Agreed, nice to know someone's checking. I still wonder why the need for secrecy when an issue is well known. A patch is a good thing, correct? Thanks.

Yeah a post with even vague information would be nice. Something like

Known issues:

Things on the plate for next patch:

Things we are thinking about altering:

As it stands I have to jump through hoops to find information I am interested in.
For example:

Toggle to change blood magic? It auto turning off every combat and dialog is far more aggrovating then dying every now and then because I get careless.

Dex issue.

Shapechange -- On the previous board one of the devlopers mentioned it was being looked at. Is this the case? What are they thinking of changing? The class could use some tweaks to make it worth investing 4 points into. Instant cast(or at least faster), mana regen or ability to use potions in some forms. To name a few ideas. Always seems buggy to me that my dog could use potions but I cannot in bear form.

edit: Oh and if they are thinking about adding a toggle to show helms for characters. Dear god mage helmets are ugly.

It's likely that they don't want to give an ETA because people will be upset if it's late, better to just release the patch when it's done.

A little update, the fatigue issue that I thought was a bug is in fact a game mechanic. The first skill in the war line gives -10% to fatigue. I do not know if my damage values changing all of the time is a result of the game or a bug, ie. even when scrolling through my characters the damage values change with the same equip on. Shale is still messed up of course, but I was planning on not destroying the anvil, so perhaps i'll just kill her and be done with it. I will say even with gimped attack shale is a tanking beast. I will not have many guys in the last battle haha, killed the dog, wynne, Z, will kill allister at the end.
