From the link (which in turn links to the two retailers where you can buy the copies for around $100 each):

EB Games in Australia and New Zealand have announced an exclusive edition of Mass Effect 3 only available at EB Games. 

The Mass Effect 3 Omni Blade Edition includes the following items:

-Collectible METALPAK
-In-game M55 Carbine Rifle
-Inflatable Omni Blade



And here I thought the spammy MassEffectNews twitter feed wouldn't come up with anything decent. Waddayaknow.

I think it was Comic-Con, or was it E3...? Can't remember. They had this "Mass Effect March" thing going where they set up this huge Bioware Base outside and were giving away the blades to anyone who passed through.

I still got my Inflatable Omni Blade. And I haven't even inflated it, still in the package got it over at Eurogamer Expo London on Sept 2011.

That sounds like CC, they were outside the building as opposed to inside with everyone else. There was about a two hour line to play the demo. I played on the last day when the line was short, though, so maybe they had run out of them by then? Shame
Of course, I didn't like ME at the time, so I wouldn't have cared then anyways.


Back on topic, is that all the Aussies get as far as special editions?

Sigh (the day after the N7 gets removed from the preorders), EB did something similar with the bolter edition of space marine.

Nope, EB Oz and NZ had the N7 edition up for preordering till yesterday still available as far as my local store manger says (same with Mightyape and jbhifi)

Doesn't seem like it. The one they advertised for the N7 edition was more angular and had MaleShep/FemShep cover art with a black backdrop, whilst this one looks more like the SE cover printed on a ME1CE-esque case.

No I just want the carbine rifle, I probably won't cancel my CE pre-order but I just want the option.

Cancel the preorder for CE, get the omniblade and then use it to threaten the clerk for your CE.
