I have good news. After turning off UAC and running the game through the file path by the 'as an Administrator' option, my troubles appear to have gone. Usually, I get to the point where I've just landed on Kirkwall and when I go to see the man in charge inside the Keep, it crashes. This time, I experienced no game tearing and no crashing. Not even cut-scene freezing which usually results in me having to skip it. I enjoyed at least 2 hours of game play and am now running through Kirkwall completing side and companion quests.
I'm confident disabling the UAC was the factor that gave me the ability to play. I'm not sure why it would make a difference however. Can someone explain that?
