I pre-ordered mine the moment it was announced. After my mis-hap with the ME2 CE, I couldn't take the risk and leave it for later.

Both my friends picked up a ME3 CE Edition for the 360 last night at EB. Since I already preordered my copy I picked up Amalur instead. I guess it just depends where you live or which store your trying to preorder from.

Just talked to my drinking buddy who is a SM at Eb AU, they are in very low supply. Alot of stores wont take pre-orders for the C.E anymore.

I started telling fans back in November that the CE was starting to run out and you should pre-order while you have the chance. If you haven't yet pre-ordered and are in danger of missing out, here are a couple of ideas:

  • The digital version will not sell out. We do not have to make physical goods for them, so they will remain available.
  •  Try a different retailer. SOme stores may still have CE available.
  • Check retailers at launch. Some stores will order extra or have cancellations that will free up copies. This is risky, but may get you a CE.

And then you waited months to announce the preorder bonuses. Which people were waiting for, or ended up trying to switch retailer.

Maybe if you were sensible about how and when you announced things, stuff like this wouldn't happen. You can't take the high road here.

It can be argued its the fault of the consumer, not Bioware.

Retailer-specific items are not exclusive to Collector's Editions. They are exclusive to the retailers, hence even regular editions will get them.

If a consumer decides they are not happy with the retailer exclusive items they will be getting, it is their choice to cancel their preorder and preorder elsewhere. Should the Collector's Edition not be available at that point is tough luck, but quite probable, since retailer exclusive items are not revealed very early. More often than not they are revealed very close to game launch, so missing out on the Collector's Edition is a risk the consumer is taking.

No fault on the developers, no fault on the retailers, hell you can even argue that there's no fault on the consumer-

Its just the way things are. Passing blame around will not change how the system works. It was a risk, people took it, and some lost. Unfortunate, but that's the risk they took.

Some stores still have some. Depends where you live. Also, there's always the online option, but you'll have to account for shipping costs/time. Sucks, but you shouldn't have waited this long.

I just preordered my N7 CE today at my local Game Stop for the PC. Probably didn't have any issues getting it for the PC cause everyone seems to be shying away from the PC editions cause of Origin.

I was in my local EB Games in Toronto (Dufferin Mall) last night - Jan 9th- they're still taking orders. I was also told that they may be offering a pre-order bonus in addition to what has already been announced, but he couldn't say for sure %100. Dude also said they will "probably" be offering the hard cover Prima guide at %30 off to pre-order customers.

Chris is right, but about this one in particular.  I do remember him saying that the CE was starting to run out in November.  However, retailers have been known to do the third option on occasion.  Sometimes, even with limited quantaties of CE's, you can find them for sale down the road.  I've never seen a CE version of Mass Effect in my area before except for on launch date...which is why if you're not worried about getting a physical copy, I would go the digital version...unless you're on a console; THEN you'd might want to look at places like Amazon or GameStop online (which I think are still taking preorders for the CE version).

I wish those of you that are still hunting for the chance to preorder one the best of luck!  Makes me glad I fnished paying mine off last month.

Yeah, people need to remember to preorder as soon as possible. You can always cancel before release if you change your mind.

You can trade your games into the store and get a card that they put your store credit on and use that on their website to order the game. The way I see it, you're already saving money with trade ins, even with shipping and handling, you're still only paying for a fraction of the game.

If all else fails, Origin is still taking pre-orders for the physical copy.

If you're gonna do 3) thing that Chris Priestly mentioned, you can preorder a normal copy of the game, purchase it, getting the code, return the game, and buy the CE version.

If a consumer decides they are not happy with the retailer exclusive items they will be getting, it is their choice to cancel their preorder and preorder elsewhere. More often than not they are revealed very close to game launch, so missing out on the Collector's Edition is a risk the consumer is taking.

But then what if the place they originally pre-ordered doesn't have the retailer-exclusive they want and they want another store's exclusive? Like if someone pre-ordered at Gamestop, then Bioware announces the exclusives and the customer decides he wants the exclusive from Amazon. He then cancels the Gamestop preorder and goes to pre-order it on Amazon, but Amazon says they're sold out.

What then? Is it still the customer's fault? Should he have pre-ordered at every single retailer on the off-chance that the one he wants the retailer-exclusive from is sold out by the time the exclusives are announced? See the problem here?

It is totally Bioware's fault. They should have either announced the exclusives earlier or given people more time to pre-order after they've announced it. And yes, more time, because at my Gamestop, they told me that the pre-orders for the 360 were CANCELLED, not SOLD OUT, but CANCELLED.
