The Witcher games. I'm not really a fan of RPGs, where most of the things about the main character is pre-determined and you can't customize him at all. I don't find this game appealing to me at all.

Oh, SinnSly reminded me.

Every Assassin's Creed after the first. The Sequel was improved in gameplay, but there wasn't enough in the narrative department. "The Truth" doesn't really count, as it's a 30 second video after solving countless puzzles. Now they're chugging out one per year with critically declining scores and multiplayer.

What happened to this series?

People should start giving explanations instead of just listing crap. Also, I don't think everyone loves Homefront that game was a huge drag from what I hear.

Anyways, easily, Skyrim is probably the biggest one that I despise. I can understand all the Oblivion love since it was the most graphically superior game I owned at the time, and I have never played a TES game before. After playing so much Oblivion, I just couldn't get into the SAME EXACT thing in Skyrim. They brought back the terrible plots, quests, and NPCs. I seriously don't see a single aspect that was an improvement over Oblivion. The leveling system is awful, the graphics look only slightly better if not just more messier, and the PS3's version is suffering from the same exact problems that were occuring in Fallout: 3. Oblivion didn't give me as much issues as Skyrim has been and that is awful. No wonder why Bethesda has an "F" rating in the Better Business Bureau.

Edit: Seems like I'm not the only one with this problem

Crazy how I didn't experience this in Oblivion, but it started in Fallout: 3 to Skyrim.

For me there are a few:

- The Witcher games. I totally appreciate what they are trying to do, but there is no way in a million years I can appreciate roleplaying Geralt. He is absolutely nowhere near a character I have any interest in. I bought The Witcher 2 to marvel at it's graphics which I have to say are excellent, but after the first few quests I loathed my character too much to continue (and there was nothing I could do about it). Exactly the same thing happened back when I played the first game so it's probably my fault for expecting a different outcome I guess...

- I hate to say it but Skyrim and really the other Elder Scrolls games. I tend to play them so I have satisfied myself that I have played them, but there is almost no characterisation in the NPC's and I am the kind of roleplayer that prefers the social route. I draw inspiration from the people in the setting, as well as the setting itself. There is no doubt that it is a triumph as a game/s, but alas they are not for me.

- Any war themed shooter. There is literally nothing I like about these games.

I sorta enjoyed AC 2 but seriously, AC was so awesome, I really felt challenged to compelte it and learn of what happened etc
Revelations is just boring, the Hoodblade is nothing but a little hook at the end of the Hidden Blade and it was't challenging at all, I completed it in a few hours because it was so easy, I played it after for a little bit too but I just got bored of it, I may sell Revelations and Brotherhood to be honest now lol

Most RTS games and CoD. Though I'd play CoD if friends were playing and then I'd just join along but I much prefer BF3 and Gears 3.

Knights of the Old Republic.

It did get that Star Wars feeling, they did that well... Of course, the problem is that that's probably the last thing I would want in a RPG. It's a snooze and no, the damn twist wasn't amazing.
The worst part of it is the absolutely horrendous gameplay though. Especially if you came from Bioware's previous games, then the gameplay of KOTOR was just... an extremely dumbed down version of those games. Except that there wasn't anything to make up for it. The game wasn't more action-oriented. It was the same realtime w pause bullcrap except with a lot less options.

I think the NWN1 campaign was more boring of course but KOTOR always gets me riled more because of how universally praised it is. In my mind, it's a terrible game.

Call of Duty ever since Call of Duty 2, basically. Gears of War and Halo take up second and third place there. It's just so mindless with bland, uninteresting characters. But the real loathing comes from how it's making every other publisher see dollar signs and then insisting that *every* game be like them. Yeah looking at you, BioWare *glare @ME2*

DA:O. Tones of lore in text, plus more of text, plus even more of text in dialogue, slow pace and boring fights.

Madden and everything having to do with Madden. I'm not hard to please, but I have no interest in sports.

Can't fault your opinion about CoD, its just the same thing over and over again....ok so some of that is my sour grapes of being pretty bad at the multiplayer part but still... Also have to incline to agree about RTS games, used to love them back in the day of Age of Empire 1+2, Empire Earth 1 but now a days few come out that are really great. Even old classics like C&C and Civilisation are losing their touch.
God i miss the days where you could go to war armed with guns and tanks while your enemy is still managing with spears and swords.;-)
The last final fantasy does the whole despise thing for me. It has a good story and all but i hate the gameplay, i normaly don't mind linear progression e.g CoD but somehow that final fantasy made feel fustrating and anoying.

This is interesting, because those are some of the things I liked about that game.  I'd just use slightly different adjectives to describe them.

Depends which ones. Most are the run of the mill "Pick some stock car, pick a super-realistic yet incredibly boring race track, then wash rinse repeat". If you want a fresh change of pace, anything from Burnout is a good choice: 3's a great start, paradise has a nice open-world flavor(without a full crash mode, though). There's a lot more emphasis on competition due to the fantastical nature of the series. Not cartoony, but there's a lot of car crashes that wouldn't quite happen in real life.
