DA:O. Tones of lore in text, plus more of text, plus even more of text in dialogue, slow pace and boring fights.

This is interesting, because those are some of the things I liked about that game.  I'd just use slightly different adjectives to describe them.

Same for many a player.

I like it when the game has lots of dialogue, but in DA:O it was simply boring. Sotryline wasn't really interesting as well. And gameplay? After few minutes I almost fell asleep.

Basically all the Call of Warfares: Medal of Moderns.
I consider myself a smarter then average person and I like to play games that at least try to be witty. 7 Hours of explosions and patriotistic nonsense doesnt really do it for me. :-/

Ha, I had exactly the same thought when I read that.  :)

Sports games, Assassin's Creed and Final Fantasy (As well as JRPGs in general). The former because I've no interest in sports, and Assassin's Creed because I could never get into them. Those games do nothing but bore me, unfortunately. The latter because nothing about them appeals to me. The art style, the gameplay, the voice acting, you name it. Not my cup of tea.

Oblivion and Skyrim
Batman Arkham Asylum
The first Assassins Creed (and the second, to a degree(but mostly for the DRM))
Bioshock (because of bugs, mostly, so maybe I shouldn't be so harsh)
Minecraft
And dare I say Portal 2? I definitely don't hate it, I did enjoy playing it and loved the story, but I was just so disappointed with the puzzles. And I'm still a bit bitter that I couldn't play the co-op. (I even tried soloing it, but LOL!! There's just no way..)

-Diablo 2 would be the strongest example, probably because i love the first one. I hate the outdoor levels, no atmosphere at all. And the save system killed the game for me. You don't clear a map because you want to get loot or xp, but because you can't stop before finding a checkpoint (well, you could, but it sucks).
Of the following i only "despise" parts:
-Oblivion a little bit. I had my fun with this game, but there are things so wrong with this game that i can't believe the amount of praise it got.
-Red Dead Redemption. I had my fun the first time i played it. But when i tried to replay it i noticed i don't like most of it. An open world that constantly tries to kill you (and often suceeds) while lacking a free save option just is to stressful. Want to collect stuff? Cougar! Want to watch the sunset? Pack of wolves! Want to scout the land? Pack of cougars! The battles are far to hard in the beginning (at least encounters), trivial in the end-game. I hate how the horses are controlled.

Morrowind. I appreciated the sheer ambition and freedom of it, but, unlike Skyrim, that game was broken in more than just technical issues (which it had a lot of). The fact that I had to play for 3 hours before my sword could even connect with a rat was ridiculous, I just couldnt get into it.

They used dice roll in Morrowind. yeah, I understand your frustration, before your character hit level 7, it's a pain in the a**.

Skyrim, I guess. Well maybe I don't despise it, but it's one of my least favorite games in a long time, Witcher 2 being one more on the list.

Sports games. War games like COD and MW. MMO's and single player games that get a MP feature when they don't need it, examples are like Fable 2 and 3.

Yep, I'll give you this. I want to play, damnit, not read! If I wanted to read, I'd go to the Library :pinched:

The only thing worth reading was the conversations with Alistair and Oghren.

GTA IV, played it at a friend's house and got bored of it within 45 minutes.

Fable 2, I'm not sure this is an example since everyone here seems to say that Fable 2 sucks, but you know, Fable 2 really does suck, this is one of those times when everyone is right.

MW3, I don't hate CoD games on an individual basis, but I just can't imagine what would possess someone to purchase more than one of them. Activision puts even less effort into making each title different from the last than Nintendo does in Pokemon.

Angry Birds, If I only have 5 minutes or so, I play Robot Unicorn Attack. When I have enough time that I'd get bored of Robot Unicorn attack, I play a real game.

Most WoW expansions, I liked the vanilla version of WoW. You could tell by the dungeon design that Blizzard still cared in that iteration of the game. Most of BC's dungeons seemed like long tunnels plastered with stock textures, and occasionally a scaled up and reskinned trash mob for a boss.

Warhammer 40K titles: Never played any, but I find the fandom insufferable. I'm already part of enough annoying fandoms without adding that to the roster.

The Witcher. What the hell were they thinking with that timing-based clickclicklickclickclicklick combat system?

Diablo, for the same reason.

- The Witcher games. I totally appreciate what they are trying to do, but there is no way in a million years I can appreciate roleplaying Geralt. He is absolutely nowhere near a character I have any interest in. I bought The Witcher 2 to marvel at it's graphics which I have to say are excellent, but after the first few quests I loathed my character too much to continue (and there was nothing I could do about it). Exactly the same thing happened back when I played the first game so it's probably my fault for expecting a different outcome I guess...

This. I disliked the first Witcher, but still tried the 2nd game. And while I applaud the developers for what they did with TW2 - it looks beautiful, I'm not that fond of the gameplay. However, the gamebreaker for me is that I despise Geralt, I just can't stand playing as him.

Mario Kart. Everyone loves it. Everyone's better than me. Everyone has fun playing it. This makes me want to drive the course backwards specifically to slam head-on into the leader and ruin his day.

Ah yes, the "timed combat". Horrid, wasn't it? That and the stretches of boredom actually trumped the swearing and puerile sex stuff in the end.

Ditto Mario Galaxy and every Mario platformer since All Stars was released. WTF @ them.

Lets see:
Baldur's Gate 1
KOTOR 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops
The Witcher 1
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Just Dance 2

I don't despise these games per se but I personally found them more or less overrated and not fun.

BUT I can see why people would like them and honestly wouldn't think less of them for enjoying these games.
