I have no idea why this game is so unknwon. It's brilliant.

Question how do you know what people dislike? Are you talking about games that aren't popular? Or games that are considered 'overrated' by the hardcore audience but sold well?  Or are we talking about games that got ****ty reviews and didn't sell well (like under a 6 aggregate?)  Meh whatever.

The Halo and Gears of War games. They get a lot of flak but sell by millions, ironically.
Also, Assassin's Creed.
Lost Planet 2.
Dead Space 2.
Silent Hill Homecoming.
Viva Piñata.
War In The North.
Prototype 2 (I'm still sad over Radical Entertainment's demise, why didn't this game sell more?).
Resident Evil 5 (I don't get the hate directed to this one, it's the same as 4...with a less silly story and without the Spanish-talking farmers) and Operation Raccoon City.

I coulnd't force myself to like DA2 and ME3, so those don't make the cut for me.

I'm glad to see Dynasty/Samurai Warriors mentioned several times throughout this thread. I think most of the hatred for these series is due to ignorance of the history (or, in some cases, knowledge of it, considering DW/SW go a little batty with the artistic licence.)

I can also see the argument that Koei is milking the franchises dry, releasing a new instalment every ten seconds, which, to non-fans, appears to be the same game again and again.

They're really not. And if you take the time to get to understand who these people were, you can appreciate the games a lot more than if you see them as mindless hack-n'-slash featuring people with funny names.

Dynasty Warriors has some of the most redundant gameplay I have ever seen.

But next, Jet Set Radio! They released the old version on XBL and it is awesum. It was a nice nostalgia rush.

While many reviewers seem very ignorant of such things (some say China and Japan are the same country, some claiming that none of the Dynasty Warriors characters existed in history) the real problem is they have never truly tried to play it, don't understand how to play it and are trying to compare it with dissimilar games.
I read one magazine where the game was critiscized for a historical innacuracy but the innacuracy described does not exist in the games.
Many reviewers critisize it for only having one attack button but there have always been 2 main attack buttons (And one special attack button) and they don't criticise the many games that only have one attack button...

I was one of the few people who years ago bought The Last Express. And I didn't regret it. It's an adventure game/murder mystery set on a train - on the Orient Express, actually - just before WWI.

Some brilliant and ambitious ideas, like the fact that the passing of time mattered (ex. at a certain hour of the night one of the passengers would go hide an item; at a certain station one of the suspects would leave the train), eavesdropping other passengers' conversation (you got the translation for languages your character knows, but not for those he ignores).

It was awesome.

Stunning. I thought I was the only one in the whole world who had played that game. Probably my favourite adventure game of all time, excepting Grim Fandango. Unfortunately, I played it in the early 00s when I got it off eBay, so I wasn't able to support Broderbound.

For me:
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Neverwinter Nights 2
Realms of the Haunting (nobody seems to even know this game, absolutely fantastic experience, and the only horror/fps/adventure game I have played)
KotOR2 (definitely the best in the series, and with the restored content mod it feels almost whole)
Alpha Protocol
Fallout: New Vegas (the game that Fallout 3 should have been, now that they had to turn it into a FPS, and most people I've spoken to seems to prefer FO3!)
Fallout:Tactics (as a tactical combat game it stands well on it's own, as long as you can accept that it's not a real part of the fallout franchise)

Awesome game though, if you like TPS obviously.
