Dragon Age II (still don't get the hate for this game other than it wasn't Dragon Age: Origins 2.0, I prefer this one over Origins in terms of gameplay and companions)

Rumble Roses (the game didn't get favorable reviews but it wasn't that bad)

Rumble Roses XX (again, sorely underrated but I found it to be a good game)

Jade Empire (seeing it on this list and quite surprised, it's pretty good)

Mass Effect 1 (people seem to hate this one the most out of the series, personally it's my favorite, felt the most like an RPG out of the trilogy)

Mass Effect 3 (barring the original non EC ending it was a fantastic game on all fronts, people really went overboard with the hate for this game)

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (I didn't know it was unpopular, I enjoyed that game a lot)

Dead or Alive 4 (according to DoA fans it's the most hated out of the series)

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (this was actually a good game, people were just mad it was a Mortal Kombat without gore, the fighting system was pretty solid in this one)

Alpha Protocol (yes the gameplay *is* bad, but they knew what they were doing in terms of characterization and story, the series deserves another chance)

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (despite the claims of people obsessed with elite/hardcore modes, the game is not THAT easy, the gameplay is pretty solid)

DC Universe Online (for an MMO this one actually has good gameplay, and I hate MMOs)

Fable 3 (this one had a lot of backlash but I managed five playthroughs, I thought the game was pretty good)

Fallout: New Vegas (again, just like Dragon Age 2 this one got a lot of flak for not being Fallout 3. This one was far more immersive and fun. I only managed a full playthrough in FO3 while this game has had several)

Resident Evil 5 (I don't get the hate directed to this one, it's the same as 4...with a less silly story and without the Spanish-talking farmers)

Better story, better voice acting, better script, better characters, better gameplay, better... well, everything, really. It's not as "creepy" as RE4, and really that's the only downside to it.

It also helps that the game was actually relevant to the seres storyline rather than being a sideshow like RE4 essentially was.

And I'm calling it now: Resident Evil 6. Most people have already made up their mind that the game blows...

From what I've seen and played, it's a good game. The problem is that it lookks like a bad Resident Evil game but I'm sure that's just the direction the series is headed in so I'm not interested in it too much. If I want to play a third-person shooter I'll buy Gears of War.

Dragon Age II, Mass Effect 3, Dynasty Warriors (all the ones I played), Samurai Warriors (same as DW), RE5, RE6 (I don't really see this game as a Resident Evil though, more like a straight-up shooter), Call of Duty (from the first to Modern Warfare 2), LotR: War in the North, KotOR II, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy X-2, XII, XIII and XIII-2.

I loved Dragon Age II, despite its (MANY) flaws. In my opinion, the bigger flaws are forgiveable if you know about them beforehand, and the rest is just nitpicking.
Mass Effect 3 is an amazing game looking past the last parts, the lesser amounts of roleplaying, and the VERY easy difficulty.
Diablo III only crashed alot in the first couple weeks or so. The game is fun, and only because of the combat and voice acting, but both are VERY well-executed.
Pretty much ANY game Obsidian has ever made. All are AMAZING. Their worst is likely Neverwinter Nights 2, if only because of the EXTREMELY flawed camera. The camera makes the game almost unplayable. I haven't played Alpha Protocol or Dungeon Siege III, though, so I don't have opinions on those.

Grandia II. None of my friends liked the game. I don't love it but I think it is a solid game.

Alright I am seeing a lot of games here that were definitely NOT underappreciated when they were released. Unreal, GTA (yes I played it!), Age of Empires and Black Ops were pretty well received for example.

But here are some games I feel were underappreciated:

- Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth: Great game that I found in a bargain bin, never having heard of it.

- Dead Island: Had a catastrophic release but was quickly patched and is now awesome.

- Alpha Protocol: Another bargain bin game I *should* have heard about. How did this gem slip under the radar?

- Vampire: Bloodlines: Yes, now it's regarded as a classic, but when it was released everyone was saying it didn't work at all when in fact it was very quickly patched and I played through the whole thing without encountering a single bug. People were still saying it was unplayable AFTER I had had multiple bugfree playthroughs.

Some games mentioned are loved by the masses. How does everyone dislike Jade Empire? Some people here swear it is BioWare's greatest achievement xD

Anyway...here it goes.

NWN1 OC (no where near as bad as people make it out to be.)
NWN2 OC (again, same as above.)
DA2
Alpha Protocol
Risen
Risen 2
Oblivion (though there are MANY fans, a lot of people from Morrowind's base swear it was birthed from satan's semen.)
