Okay... I have now managed to solve the puzzle like it should, but the flames doesn't jump from tile to tile like it should. Is this some kind of bug or do i do something wrong here?

Check the arrows again, if they are pointed the right way the flames should jump to the finish position. You may have one arrow turned around.
EDIT: on a side note this is not really a technical issue.

Here is a picture of the situation:

The arrows are all "pointing the right way".

Interesting It looks like the flame is hung up on the one tile to the right of the one where the flame stops.
I would try and move the farthest right to tile to see if it will "break" the flames.
Also what is the deal with the huge gaps on the tiles to the left? Is that a cut a past image of what the tiles "should" look like? There are also tiles that are raised above the rest. Did you edit that picture some how? Or use DA editor to alter that puzzle somehow?

No. I only draw the thin line on the tiles with Microsoft Paint to show the path. The tiles are like that in the actual game.
EDIT:
After the dialogue with the girl's father and him running down to the girl and the demon the puzzle seems to have kind of mixed up the tiles randomly and the flames going nuts.

How do you move the tiles? I've moved the mouse over them and clicked but nothing happens!?

You'll see a hand and then right-mouse click.

Thanks, I realised that the puzzle won't work if you've killed the kitty demon

Bumping this one, the puzzle is seriously bugged.
I had it on my first character aswell, but I just killed the demon with him. Now I really want to release the demon, but it's still bugged.
Here's a screenshot that should give an indication on how bugged it is:

EDIT: Looks like it didn't capture my mouse. However, you can see one of the tiles light up, and I can actually move that to the empy spot. And the flame is bugged aswell, as you can see.
EDIT2: Took another screenshot, lit up the tiles with the tab-key. Shows again how lovely this puzzle is for me.

I have problems with this too. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to how the squares move. Sometimes the next one can move, sometimes the next but one square moves. I swa a video of the solution on youtube. But I can't move my squares in the same manner
On another note. It's extremely aggravating to have the companions get in the way, get set on fire, etc. Whatever happened to being able to say "Stay there. Don't move"?

I was having this problem and finally managed to overcome it. Since I haven't found the solution myself and simply spent about an hour frustratingly cursing at the game I decided to post how I got around it.
As annoying as this sounds its the only work-around to the shifting floor tile problem aside from killing the cat and just ending your chances at a good resolution. What happens to the tiles is sometimes they will slide 'underneath' another tile therefore bugging out the blank square. So what you have to do is quick save before and after every successful tile move. If a tile bugs out and slides underneath another one and bugs the blank square out you have to reload. It will GREATLY increase the time it takes for you to solve the puzzle, but it will allow to complete it normally.
So for quick clarification, before you start moving any tiles make a permanent save that you can reload too upon anything bugging out.
Make sure that after every tile move you can select the appropriate tiles around the blank square then quick save before moving another tile.
If you next moved tile bugs out and slides under another tile reload your quick save and try again.
Repeat until you solve the puzzle.
I hope that helps.
Edit: As a side note about companions getting in the way, on the pc version if you are using the default keysettings you can simply move off to the side and hit H to have you companions stand off away from the puzzle. If you have rebound H to something else look for the small button on the left side of the screen that looks like a dude running. It should say "Move Freely". Click it one and the party will shift to hold position.

Holy cow. My third run through and I experienced the 'bug' where the tiles would sometimes slide under one another. It took me forever and a day to solve it, but I did it by saving after every move (and after checking it to see the adjacent tiles were movable.) I also crashed after the auto-save, but a reload later and all worked out.
