End of The Line for DA2 DLC?

As nedpepper, most of people that "complained" about DA2 did so because they liked the franchise and that it was not because we suddenly became rabidly anti DA or did a game-critic's 180.
As it turns out the sales figures and the fan base pretty much said the same thing.
Now DA2 will be DA2, other than things like stealth in MotA, they are not going to change that much in any future DLC for that game.
Provided that the story is good and well written, I will buy it.

I think the year 2012 Bioware will concentrate on ME 3.Dubya75 wrote...
It's not just me. Game Journalist SteveGarbage raises the question about whether or not we are going to see anything further in terms of DA2 DLC and I am tempted to go with his second scenario in which Bioware has indeed decided to pull the plug on the project.
I hope they prove us wrong.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Dragon Age has its own team.
And you'd probably be right - something part of the community here can't get their heads around...
This. They are completely different teams. As far as I know the only visible thing to us that ties the two together is Mr Priestly, who is the spokesman for both projects.
I think at least for the first half of 2012 Bioware's marketing department may very well focus on ME3, but I also think that as we speak a DLC or expansion (my guess is the latter) is currently in development for DA2 and will be a 'lead in' to DA3 lorewise, and will preview some of the expected changes for the next game. I think the second half of 2012 may very well bring both an announcement of DA3 and a big DLC for us to sink our teeth into.
All purely speculation of course (as is everything else in this thread), but I am no gambling man, and I would be willing to bet this is the plan.

What concerns me the most, is that they're not making any announcements at all. Not even "there are going to be more dlc's, just wait". Now the attention to the franchise is maintained with the novel, comic and anime, but not the actual game. This can't be good.

We have Legacy and MotA, and all the other little DLC pieces.
I don't really see them releasing anything else for the series until DA3.

Whatever Bioware decides to do (full expansion, DLC, etc.), I really wish that they would announce it already! They don't have to give any real details - just a teaser or update (such as "We are indeed working on more DLC for DA2 --- Love, Bioware"). If they are not planning anything else for DA2, then I really would love it if they would tell us that ("There will be no more additions to DA2 --- Love, Bioware").

Often there are contractural or marketing reasons why they can't / don't want to announce anything. They may be stupid reasons, or mystifying to the gaming layperson, but they're there.
As in, all the requests in the world wouldn't get an answer.

From many post before, a DLC from a year old game is quite a risk by itself.
On top of that if we look at the picture for the next few months:
KoA: Reckoning: Feb 2012
ME3 : March 2012
TW2 on Xbox: April 2012
Diablo 3 : March 28 ???
WOW rumors for 2012 (http://www.diablowik...dule-rumor1.jpg)
Skyrim DLC rumors: release + ?? months
I'm not comparing any of those games with DA, but it's obvious the first half of the year seems quite crowded for a DA2 dlc on purely financial terms. And then after, DA3 will just be around the corner ...
Might as well NEVER released Dragon Age 3 then... DA is not a dead product, not everything is a huge threat to it.

SWTOR is keeping me pretty busy at the moment but I would really love to dust off my Hawkes or even do a new playthrough with a new DLC.
With ME3 just around the corner, I doubt we're going to see any DLC before April...

Yes. They do.
You know, the leads of the Dragon Age IP have bosses too. If their bosses (either at EA or the top brass in Bioware) say they can't announce squat until Mass Effect 3 has been out three weeks, then they can't do it.
Its not a matter of having contracts with yourself... they have bosses, who they are contractually obligated to listen to and who have final say in financing. If they want the money to make DA2 DLC or DA3, then they will listen to the people in charge when they say "don't make any waves until after ME3 comes out. We want all the focus in the video game world to be on this and this alone."

Thing is, even an announcement of DA3 has effects on, say, stock prices. Or relationships with investors. Or release schedules. If Bioware's bosses' bosses can't point to awesome, promising things in any third game, and some business analyst gets nervous, that does things to the business side of the company.
It's a really, really complicated thing to create and release a game. As consumers we only see the tip of the iceberg, so to speak.
As much as we want some (relatively) lowly Bioware dev to confirm whether they're working on DA2 DLC, that decision isn't in their hands.
There's probably a good reason for the silence, but we might never hear it - and even if we did hear it, we probably couldn't understand it. Not without being inside the company with knowledge of their processes and concerns.

All that said, to just ditch DA2 at only 2 DLC's would to me seem like admitting the game bombed and the silent treatment only proves it. If they don't announce anything more about DA2 DLC by the time ME3 comes out or by the end of March, then they might truly be done with it.
The signs aren't encouraging for more DLC, unfortunately.
(Although, Mr Laidlaw did say that he lead a 'breakaway' team to work on what I'm assuming is DA3 quite a while back in 2011, while another staff member lead the development of the DA2 DLC. It's always possible these teams have continued separately working on a larger DA2 content pack, as well as the third game)

I'm not asking for a DLC within the next 24 hours but atleast give us SOMETHING so I don't have to keep checking back on the main site hoping to God they are announcing something. Instead only to find someone has won another freakin' art contest that I personally couldn't care less about. No offense to the winners.
