Is anyone else sad that the shapeshifting specialization is limited to a bear a spider and a swarm of insects?
I was kind of hope we might get to select a different for i.e a wolf or wildcat. It also seems like master shapeshifter is a cop out just making our spider forms corrupted and givng are bears spikes.

A little bit, was hoping wolf would be one of the options. Maybe in one of the future games they'll expand on it and add some more to the list.

I will be making a shape-shifter, and the talents could be 0 > 0 > 0 > BEAR WITH SPIKES and i would be happy. I mean come on you can be a bear with spikes, I think that is actualy sufficient for the whole tree!
Of course they could add in different styles of specializations but I think they have done well here. I will have to try it out before I judge though.

I think a more branching tree would have been better. Like you have one or two different starting points which fan out to a few different forms, but you can still only choose four forms overall, the last being a choice between something very powerful with limits (like a golem and dragon only the golem can't fit through doors or some such and the dragon can only be used in certain areas, such as outdoors) or the current ability which simply makes past forms more powerful, extending their use.

Master Shapeshifter doesn't only change the way the forms look, they add a new ability as well:
Overwhelm.
Go watch the Mabari Dog video. See when the dog pounces the target to the ground and starts tearing them apart?
That's Overwhelm. Corrupted Spider & Bereskarn just got a lot more terrifying.
Swarm also gets a life-drain-on-attack added to it.
Sounds like a pretty good 4th talent to me.

4th talent also gives Corrupted Spider and Bereskarn Overwhelm. Go watch the Mabari Dog video, and watch for the part where he knocks the guy to the ground and starts tearing his face off.
That's Overwhelm.
Swarm also gets life-drain-on-attack.
Sounds like a pretty good talent to me.

I am still not sure if I am going to make a shapeshifter... But more forms could always be added in expansions or the likes. Dragon-form would be awesome. Though being a High Dragon would kind of be odd when you're a male character, no?

If you happened to be paying attention during the Warden's Quest Event one of the 'hotspots' on the time line talked about one of the EU teams just getting back from the fade where they went to learn new shapeshifting forms. They only mentioned like 3-4 forms the team picked up. I recall one was a mouse or a rat or something along those lines, not sure about the others or which team did this.

Bear - spider - swarm of insects - master shapeshifter (changes bear to spiky bear, spider to corrupted spider and grants a new skill to each of the three forms)

I have to say, after playing around with Morrigan, shapesifting is actually useful in this game, what a suprise!
Unlike all the tacked on shapeshifting of the previous games, in DAO, it has saved Morrigan's life a LOT. I think it's mostly because of the way mana works here. It is much more limited, unlike the DnD spells, and you tend to want to blow through it in the first 10 seconds of battle, with the big AoEs... given how terrible staves are for damage after the initial burst, being able to turn into a bear is VERY useful. Especially since it seems to cost no mana, and remains active indefinately.
Not really that great against bosses, but against groups of mobs(and they CAN kill you), it's extremely useful.
I've yet to try the AW however, to really see who is the best melee mage...

I think to what that prefers is the Fade Mission, where you are haunted by a Demon.
In this quest your PC can transform in 4 different entities(1 is a Golem and another one is a Rat).
With this shapeshifts you must pass some tests and puzzles.
I dont think it has anything to do with the Shapeshifting Specialization...
Especially because the Bloodmage Specialization is linked to this quest.
