After playing through Mass Effect 2 several times and earning all of the achievements I've been going back through and making all of the decisions I want to make heading into the third installment. I've took the liberty of deliberately killing off some characters I didn't care for.
Namely, Jacob, Jack, and Thane all got the ax. It wasn't anything personal with Jacob or Thane. Just didn't care for them. I wish I could've told the Illusive Man, "Hey, I don't actually need these guys and I never take them on missions. I'm just going to drop them off at the Citadel with promises of ice cream and then peel out of the docking bay."
As for Jack, well I just hated that character. Hated her from the moment I saw her in the promos. Rips through a dozen mechs and steel walls of a ship but then gets taken down by a couple of husks on the Collector base. Fail. I would've left her on the ship or just killed her myself. When Jack tells me about her past I just want to say, "So go kill yourself." I know Jack has a fan base and save your rants because you won't convince me that she's a good character.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else purposely killed off a character or two simply because you didn't like or care for them.  Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

No, I have not.

The only times characters have died on me were when I forgot to buy a particular ship upgrade or I forget to do their loyalty mission.

I have no problem killing off Kaidan though.

I'm tempted to kill off a few characters simply because I'm unhappy with how they're presented in ME3 but that'd require me to break character, plus I'm too lazy.

Thank god I killed Ash though.

No, the only squadmates I ever have die are Ashley/Kaidan on Virmire and Morinth (who, since never recruited, doesn't really count anyway). While there are characters I'm not overly fond of, there are none that I actually dislike.

The only person dead in my canon Shep's saves is Ashley, but that was because of Virmire. She's my second favorite of all the squadmates, it certainly wasn't through dislike that I left her to die.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of some of the ME2 squadmates (such as Thane, Jacob, etc), I want to have the fullest experience in ME3. I figured that would probably be obtained by keeping everyone alive. If I ever decide to do a renegade playthrough, I'll probably kill off some people I don't like so much.

Yes, Shepard. Interested to see who we control for Shepards dead imports.

Dead Shepards are unimportable.

I'm pretty sure that was a joke.

Damn, well what's the point of including that option then. Shenannigans.

I have to admit that I "forgot" to upgrade the armor in my most recent ME2 completion just because I was sick of my least favorite character surviving while other more favorable ones died, But I'll probably make my canon playthrough the one with her/all surviving. It was done out of a moment of spite more than anything else.

I also Virmire'd a certain NCO that was coming on to my Shep, somewhat out of the fear that I couldn't get out of the relationship I somehow entered by being a "nice" CO. That one though could be justified since I ended up saving the higher ranking officer, something which (somewhat sadly) is often the situation in real life.

Tis a shame Ash needs to be killed in order for her character to be honored.

Basically as the ultimate "You fail" scenario, I guess to encourage people to do sidequests who normally don't.

I did kill some squaddies intentionnaly on some of my runs to fit my Shepard's profile. Like letting Miranda do the biotic bubble on the SM and let a non-human squadmate die for one of my racist renegade run. For an other I sent a non loyal tali into the vent because my Shep took her for granted so it felt fitting that he loses her. I have a few more examples but it all comes down to killing them for storytelling purpose, not cause I dislike the squadmate himself.

I always think that if the SM wasnt that easy I wouldnt have to kill them off like that. Or that squaddies should leave like the party members in DAO if you ****** them off too much. But I understand that might be too many variables to handle.

I was tempted to kill off Miranda, but I didn't want another of my squad to die by accident as well.

If you want to kill Miranda and nobody else, just side with Jack in the argument and then later bring Miranda with you to the final battle.

I consider deliberately allowing characters to die to be petty and childish.

Notice how I said "I consider"

If someone I didn't like IRL was hanging from a bridge and I had the opportunity to save them, would I? Yes. I know the characters in ME aren't real, but I consider them to be within the game.

^This, people are turning the whole "make a sacrifice situation" into killing off character's they hate, though I don't mind it when people kill character's just to see what the consequences (sp) are of their death

I only kill off one of them when i have no choice, I have a bit of OCD with that. But if i had to off one of them it would be jack, no doubt. "Wahhhh my life sucks waaahhhhh cerberus wahhhhh" she needed a nice tall glass of shut the hell up. Oh yeah and I always choose Kaiden to die (except on one file) I don't dislike him as much as jack, but he did get on my nerves.

I am too much of a completionist when it comes to RPGs... so, I just cannot bring myself to skip a ship upgrade or a loyalty mission. But, if this were a book, I'd really leave Jack, Jacob, Thane and Tali behind. Jack pissed me off when I chose the paragon options in her dialogue and she thought my Shep was hitting on her... WTF? Jacob, one unresponsive mouse, and my Shep turns into a cougar around him (ugh...), Thane is a good character, but he's dieing anyway... As for Tali... well, she was useless in ME1, and continued to be useless in ME2.

All of them. Several times.
