Have you killed off a charater(s) simply to not see them in the 3rd game?

Huh she will die in this scenario apparently:

Along with Mordin though D:

She isn't loyal there, right?

The point is that Miranda is the only loyal member who can't die.

Yeah I know. She can even hold the line by herself for some boggling reason.

But I was talking about killing off an unloyal Miranda.

I have my "canon" playthrough where everyone has survived since the first time I played ME2, but I will probably use gibbed to see what ME3 will be like with a squad that took some losses.

My first import was going to be a file where everyone survived but I'm leaning towards importing my FemShep with five squadmate deaths (six if you count Wrex) into ME3 first.

If you don't mind me asking, why exactly?

Because it feels right. That probably doesn't make any sense to you but that is my reason why.

For me its just because my "canon" playthrough is whatever happens the first time through. I managed to keep everyone alive my first time playing, and as such that carries over.

Although now that I think about it, I was lucky. I almost sent zaeed in as a fireteam leader.

I've got a couple of imports where people are dead- Jack and Jacob with my Renegon Adept, Garrus, Samara and Zaeed with my Paragade Infiltrator and in my current vanguard playthrough I plan not to open Grunt's tank and sell Legion to Cerberus.

Not because I particularly dislike these characters, more to see exactly how some of these will impact the world in 3.

Canonically, no. Keeping my squad alive is part of my job, whether I like them or not. And, you never know when someone who you previously used to dislike turns out to change your mind later - happens irl very often.

I do have various careers where I did script some death though.

It's amazing how most people have trouble getting Miranda killed off, when I've done it completely by accident... I lost her loyalty during the confrontation with Jack, didn't have enough Paragon/Renegade points to get it back, and even though she survived my first suicide mission playthrough, she died holding the line on one of the replays. I brought Garrus and Thane with me to the final battle, while I brought Garrus and Tali on my first. Garrus has one of the highest defense scores, and I think Thane is in the group right below Garrus and Grunt (don't have Zaeed because he's DLC). I was a little shocked when she turned up dead in the end, considering how everyone else has to really try for it. xD

And now, my answer to the original question:

I would never kill off any of my favorites (they die often enough with no involvement from me), but I have a few playthroughs planned out with squadmate deaths. I roleplay each of my Shepards, choosing options as they would, and for some of them, it does make sense that they wouldn't have a perfect outcome. For example, Jacob offering to go through the vents... most of my Shepards would know this is a bad idea, as he has no tech skill, but some would let him go. A few of my Shepards would try to get certain squadmates killed off on purpose, like two of my paranoid Sole Survivors wanting the Cerberus members dead. But those are characters that I don't really care for one way or the other. No love, no hate. There are only three squadmates I would kill off in some playthroughs because I personally hate them - two of those were solved with Virmire and Samara's loyalty mission, and there's no option for the other one yet.

I've never killed any characters simply because I didn't like them. I actually have only killed them when I'm role-playing a story for my Shepard, like losing a love interest in the final battle, for example.

I had one playthrough where I killed everyone except two characters. I kept Morinth alive because I sympathized with her being discriminated against because of a "disorder" she was born with, and Zaeed just because I needed a second so Shep didn't die, and plus he's a badass merc.

I had Miranda killed in H-T-L in one career. One casualty up to that point (Jacob) but no crew-escort. I just took Garrus and Grunt to the boss. An otherwise completely loyal squad couldn't save her.

To the current day, I only lost one member of my squad: Kaidan. And only because I wasn't able to save him AND Ashley on Virmire. Besides that, I tried everything to get my crew through hell. My Shepard cares for every member of his crew - even those he's indifferent.

Yes yes I have My canon shep and my other shepard's except for one saved Ashely along with kirahe but then I cheated on her with Miranda. In ME 2 despite having everyone's loyalty and intentionally putting people where they shouldn't be about half of me 2 cast bit the dust so in ME 3 all of my shepards won't be seeing or talking to about half of the me 2.

So I would say that in ME 3 my shepard's will be playing with half a deck of cards if you will.

In one Shepard, I saved everyone. In another, I only saved those characters I know I'll never be able to watch die. So Samara, Miranda, Jacob, Grunt and Jack died. I like them, but I like the rest much more. The only inconvenience is that I had to recruit Zaeed and Kasumi after the suicide mission, so Miranda could die holding the line. It was a complicated plan.

Also, if we get the option to kill Liara in ME3, she's going down. In every single playthrough of mine. No matter the cost.

But despite playing with what I feel is going to be about half a deck of cards, I still think that I can go through ME 3 do a really good job shepard lives if I choose the right things in 3 and have a happy ending.

Even if your favorite character getting killed was the cost? Wow... I just wouldn't be able to do it, even though I've been wanting that option since her romance trap set back one of my playthroughs by several months.

No I haven't. The only person I killed was Ash, but that was because I was already on my way to rescue Kaiden, and it didn't make sense for me to turn back.

Well, of course, I was exaggerating. The only thing that could prevent me from killing Liara would be if I had to kill one of my favorite characters or Shepard him/herself in the process.

Miranda.

And I swapped Samara for Morinth but I don't think that counts for what you're asking.

In a few of my play thru's I want to be able to by the end of ME 3 have shepard be the only one standing with all of his party members dead or dieing.

That's about the same as what I would do then, except I would keep her alive sometimes. I have a few Shepards who wouldn't let it happen, and I've got to stay in-character. (Unless the choice is between her and a favorite of mine. Then I'd metagame a reason for them to save my favorite instead.)

I'd like to get rid of Liara on several playthrough, but that's unlikely to happen.

Number of deaths usually depends on amount of roaches in my Shepard's head.

For example, one biotic hating lady death list: Kaidan (Virmire), Wrex (as not recruited), Jack (no armor upgrade, because she didn't talk to Jacob at all), Jacob (vents - "oh, I smell a way to get rid of one of them!"), Garrus (LI dead by Seeker Swarm - "I'll pick Miranda for biotic bubble and she will die somehow on the way, right?"), Tali (2nd FTL - "err... at least she commanded at Haestrom"), Miranda (Final Boss - "die already!"). Samara and Thane not recruited.

Another guy just didn't care about knowing his crew better. As a result, people who survived both games: Ashley, Liara, Kasumi, Morinth.

Other Shepards might lose somebody, but it's usually only one of conflicting chars.

All my playthroughs so far have been paragade and i always save everyone, however i am planning a playthrough where almost everyone dies, just so i can see how 3 differs from having everyone to almost nobody.
