I have one full paragon, and it was hard to play through that. The paragon was 'too good', and like the illusive man said; 'short-sighted'.

I prefer to play renagade. When I think of how many sheperd has killed, I cant help but think of this qoute.

If a man kills too many, too long, he loses his original purpose and has his heart stolen by the color and smell of blood.

You do what you can when you can to make sure you have the resource in the future, but to not use it at all doesn't make sense in this context.

Have you ever seen the Animatrix?

The "Second Renaissance" sequence has always infuriated me with its portrayal of humanity as a "villain" for fighting for its own survival. The machines are apparently the good guys for doing the same despite the fact that the humans ultimately relented and gave the machines what they wanted, and then left them alone. Despite the fact that we can infer from the machine's victory in the war that they were prepared for it, which means they planned for its occurence.

I'm not saying the machines are villains, just that they aren't victims or righteous victors.

I have, and its one of my favorite sequences because of that odd portrayal (not because I enjoy the portrayals, only because it makes you think, no matter which side you think was right).

Both sides were fighting for survival after the first few skirmishes.  I never considered either side to be anything but pig headed and tragic, humans for attempting to kill something they didn't understand, and later finishing the job they started with blind devotion (especially when the machines could have been left in their deserts and inhospitable places), and the machines for reacting in the only way the fear of extinction and absolute pragmaticism would dictate.

You and I would probably disagree on how to solve the crisis, but we can agree that it exists and what it consists of.  Neither side is deserving of honor or virtue, the events of the second rennaisance are clearly ugly from any angle.

The humans were only villanous in the very begining of that conflict, the abuse of the machines once they became sentient.  After that, it was a war of resources and later one for survival.

Ironically or intentionally, this plays well into our previous comments on Conservationism versus Enviromentalism, the humans destroy sunlight to stop the machines, not realizing they need it themselves, and the machines who need humans to consume goods at first and later as batteries, also savage human populations multiple times, even though it could mean the end of all life on earth, artificial or natural.

Of-course. They don't have cute faces for you to empathize with despite the fact that they play a much bigger role in their ecosystem than a chimp does.

(NOTE: THIS IS A JOKE)

Ooh, smooth, very smooth.

I think it has more to do with the fact that I'm somehow a magnet for bugs. Spring and fall are h*ll.

I don't really like chimapnzees anyway. Look too much like black people.

(That was a joke, folks. I am, in fact, black. I couldn't resist a perfect set up like that)

Is it wrong that I laughed at this?

Only if you did it while sipping racist coffee.

Bolded part was the double standard. Because you're black it's a joke. If you weren't I doubt it would be. Kind of like how black people hate when other races use the N-word but they use it.

Oh, no, that's not what I meant at all. it was like this:

1. It's a joke
2. People will surely see that and find it, and me, "racist."
3. It's not racist. I'm not racist. I'm black, so I couldn't even be racist (towards blacks anyway).

I was trying to hedge off the question/accusation before it came, not imply that I'm allowed to make fun of black people but white people aren't. I have a white friend who tells black jokes all the time. Some pretty funny ones, too.

They usually don't. When I invent a character, I try to define that character's personality values and motivations, and stick to that.

You can be black and hate blacks, even for the same reasons as a white person. It's happened.

Comparing Bush Jr. to a chimp is funny, but comparing Obama to a chimp is racist.

Then again that's also a Republican/Democrat thing.

I may not have been clear enough, that's the only part where humans could possibly be called villanous.  I was trying not to label them villain or victim either.

As I said, both sides were pigheaded and tragic, but I digress, that would be a debate for another time.

You wouldn't compare Bush to one though, he doesn't have that short black hair and the round head like a basketball.

People have said I look like Obama. Not sure why, it's quite offensive...

And I'm wondering how that relates to R/D (other than each president's affiliation), but that's probably a nice big can of worms...
