Soldier the best class? Or just too easy to play well for too little effort?

Having played all Six classes, I can say that every class has it's strength and weaknesses. The Soldier has lots of guns but i your ammo pool runs dry you're toast. The Adept, for instance, can tool enemies and make them fly 'round, But, if you are caught while the cooldown is occuring, you're toast. See where I am going? No class is truly superior. Never has been.

Thanks to slow cooldown timers, ME2 was only fun to play as soldier.

Slow cooldown timers?

The longest cooldown is like four and a half second long.

That's like 30 seconds in gamer time.

I play Infiltrator and I found the timers to be pretty short to be honest.
Assisination Cloak being 6 seconds long.
Fortification (Which is my choosen ability) being my longest with about 8 - 12 seconds.
Indicinary being about 4 seconds.
Other than that, my pistol and my sniper were more than a match to take anything out.

I don't have any issues with my Vangaurd either, his charge takes about 5 seconds and other abilities only take a little longer then that.

I guess that makes the cooldowns in ME1 about four minutes in gamer time.

Soilder is default. Get over it, everyone likes to have a familar basis to play on.
Only people that want something new try other classes.

If you go to school and start learning Phythagrous but, you've never even heard of the word, not to mention what the hell it is.
Would your mind be able to comprehend it?
No, you'd just look at it and be like what the ****.

Everyone starts on a basic familar level that they understand or can begin to understand quickly.

So yes, everyone. Including you.

It might get boring so damn fast, but you're not every single person on the planet. Some people like the classic soilder class.
Call of Duty has started to offer people more choice, by letting them go stealth or heavy weapons expert.
Not yet, implimented it into the game, where it's useable against a soilder, seen as it's all run, shoot, kill, die.

Every class has it's own advantages. I've played with all classess, although soldier is my favourite. Damn, you change your tactics to match avaiable powers and situations. Some situations are easier to handle for biotic guys, some for soldiers and some for infiltrators or engineers or sentinels. That's what I've experienced in ME1 and ME2. None of the classess is the best as each of them separately handles every situation differently.

Yeah Bioware released the statistics and more than half just picked the premade john shepard.

I guess that most people didn't even glance at the list of classes. Makes sense under the circumstances that this is a popular game, a third person shooter and has a quick start button.

yeah i agree that it's a good basis but i rather pick a class that's fun rather than easy and boring.

In ME1 the Soldier was undoubtedly the strongest class. Immunity to all damage is quite a feat.

In ME2, i wouldnt say so. Locust SMG made soldier obsolete. Sentinel with Tech armor comes pretty damn close if not surpassing the soldier in power. Tanks everything and is not reliant on cheesy slomo's

I tried playing other classes in ME1 but the Soldier was by far the best for me. In ME2, I liked the Vanguard with the biotic charge, so it was a close second.

So would I, and this is why I play Infiltrator and not Soilder, Vangaurd grabs me by it's use of Biotics to charge at my enemy then blast out my Geth Shotgun, cutting them into four peices up close and personal.

But, the Soilder class is still a valuable assest to the game. =)

Shockwave is one of Vanguards most under rated powers... creative use espeically in areas with ledges  and bridges.

In ME2: Soldier has the most firepower, strongest weapons, and is tough to kill. No reason to pick a biotic class, you have two squad members to do it for you, plus the AI is utterly and hoplessly terrible when it comes to shooting and close range combat in general so they should be kept back to support from a good safe distance.

I hope that ME3 is better balanced with smarter squads.

Agree, that's the way I played most of my playthroughs.

Kasumi was the only one I found that did really well in close range.

I just use Jack for Shockwave, I turned off use of powers, so I use 'em when I demand it. Jack's biotics are powerful.
Bring back Liara, I say.

They should have done the non biotic classes the harder classes to play combat wise IMHO. More dirt, bruises and demanding higher skill from the player. After all, a soldier Shepard is just basically a N7 marine without biotics.

Oh I  had fun with  Jack -  speced her into the wide Shockwave and had my Shepard speced into Heavy  and then send them out nearly back to back..

In all my playthroughs of ME2 I've found Adept to be the easiest. At higher levels their powers trivialize just about every encounter. Just roll with Garrus and Miranda and you have two overloads to deal with shields and another warp to add to yours and you can basically handle everything. Once you're a Bastion or Nemesis the cooldowns for Adept's are so fast it is ridiculous.

This would probably upset many who only play soldier, tech classes etc no one should have disadvantage just because they prefer different classes  and i don't see why Biotics classes should be stronger, soldiers have powerful guns while tech classes have another powerful abilities (like incinerate) and it's not like biotic power is god like powers exactly, they should be balanced so they're equally hard or easy to play.

I agree with you mate, the class are really unbalanced. They made the Vanguard's class and the Soldier class alot stronger than the other classes.

I don't think that the other classes should have so much low damaging weapons. Like almost every class should have at least snipers or assault. All the classes in ME2 has submachine gun and pistole mostly which is definitely a bad choice, because people would prefer better weapons over powers. Especially players who are new to Mass Effect.

I hope they will made at least every class has sniper/rifle or it will not be balanced again.
