Soldier the best class? Or just too easy to play well for too little effort?

In ME2: Soldier has the most firepower, strongest weapons, and is tough to kill. No reason to pick a biotic class, you have two squad members to do it for you, plus the AI is utterly and hoplessly terrible when it comes to shooting and close range combat in general so they should be kept back to support from a good safe distance.

I hope that ME3 is better balanced with smarter squads.

I agree with you mate, the class are really unbalanced. They made the Vanguard's class and the Soldier class alot stronger than the other classes.

I don't think that the other classes should have so much low damaging weapons. Like almost every class should have at least snipers or assault. All the classes in ME2 has submachine gun and pistole mostly which is definitely a bad choice, because people would prefer better weapons over powers. Especially players who are new to Mass Effect.

I hope they will made at least every class has sniper/rifle or it will not be balanced again.

Except that not far into the game they allow you to choose any weapon type you want so my Adept is still running around with an assault rife.

Solider is definitely the easiest (and therefore most powerful) IN OTHER WORDS, the "best." Ultimately, your goal is to eliminate the bad guys to progress. You can not deny the soldier is the best at that.

I mean, Heightened AR and a mattock is a complete joke even on insanity. You absolutely decimate everything in your path with 1 (2 tops) AR, if you can aim well.

Either way, no one is telling you to play a certain class. Enjoy the game how you see fit.

They should have done the non biotic classes the harder classes to play combat wise IMHO. More dirt, bruises and demanding higher skill from the player. After all, a soldier Shepard is just basically a N7 marine without biotics.

This would probably upset many who only play soldier, tech classes etc but i don't see why Biotics classes should be stronger, soldiers have powerful guns while tech classes have another powerful abilities and it's not like biotic power is god like powers exactly, they should be balanced so they're equally hard or easy to play.

It should have been defined from the start. Its to late to switch now as people already are used to gameplay.

The reason why biotics should be stronger because they can controll a physical force by will.
Its kinda like having an additional very strong, long and flexible invicible third arm

I love the soldier. It's like the iphone of Mass Effect.

Oh what's that? Heavy shields? There's an app for that.

Same here (though I find Sentenal a bit more boring).

Adept and engineer are my favorites.

Speak for yourself, mate. Sentinels are great.
I enjoyed laying it on with assault armour and a shotgun. Stride into the midst of a Blue Suns pack, shoot two of them, let the armour detonate to knock down the rest, then finish them off with a pair of shots and a few melee swings.
Delicious fun!

Soldier the easiest? My Widow Infiltrator has a bone to pick with that statement.

Agreed.

Soldier is my preferred class since I enjoy using a variety of guns at a variety of ranges; but in my experience Infiltrator was the most powerful in ME2.

As a Soldier I had the most offensive output; but as an Infiltrator the tactical cloak gives you both a tool for setting up ambushes and more importantly a means of saving your ass if you're position is overrun.

For example, I was playing as an Infiltrator on board the derelict Reaper (on Insanity) and my squad got overrun by a bunch of husks, leaving me with no shields, no allies and facing about 6 husks and 2 Scions.

Now if I had been playing a Soldier I would have been screwed; but as an Infiltrator I was able to hit my tactical cloak and let my shields regenerate as I retreated back to a safe position at which point I took down the husks then brought down the Scions without too much difficulty.

PS:  I disagree about the Soldier being a boring class, it really depends how you play.  If you tank yourself out and just roll spraying with a Revenant until everything stops moving then its pretty boring.

But; if you make use of all of your weapons then it can be a lot of fun since it gives you a nice mix of long range sniping, medium range supression with your assault rifle and up close and personal work with your shotgun.  If you're getting bored as a Soldier then you just aren't mixing things up enough.

To OP: it depends entirely on Bioware having fixed or not the Adrenaline Rush bug which also use it's multiplier on other multipliers, which no other power/upgrade in the game does (which is why I consider this a bug).

Soldier is not the best class, but it's the best to play as Shepard.

You have teammates for all biotic powers that you can command completely free. Which means that you have everything defensive as a soldier, while bashing out biotic powers on command like they are your own.

Soldier is the worst I die most in soldier playthrough.

Sentinal with Mattock/Infaltrator with Widow > Soldier

Vanguard is the most fun.

I think Sentinel will be better for this purpose. Tech Armor is both ultimate protection, one of its evolutions is crowd control and reseting Tech Armor also resets cooldowns of your squad's powers (which seems to be left from earlier variants of this power). I'd say Sentinel Shepard + Zaeed + Miranda was my easiest playthrough.

Sentinel to me, is the best class on ME simply because it's almost impossible to die.

I have played each class with diff specs (some classes 3-4 times) on insanity (yes, ME2 was my only use for free-time for a long, long time) and I can confidentiality say that the most "OP" class is the Assault Sentinel,

It is literally a one man (or one woman, in my case, since all my sents are females) army.

For ME3? Who knows.

I'm an adept fan for ME2. In ME1 it was the infiltrator class because the adepts cool downs were so long and they got gimped badly in ME1 for combat wise. But ME1 was superior to ME2 story wise and character recruitment being interwoven into the story. In ME3 I'll probably play as an Adept first and foremost before trying other classes.

True, unless you really like Biotics and/or a challenge.  Not everything is about the strongest class, especially in a singleplayer game.  I have and always will play Adept because I love being a biotic master pretty much.

Also when it comes to Multiplayer I could see Soldier not topping "best classes" list.  I'm guessing those with the most crowd control will be or more specifically: The Engineer and the Adept.  Too many ninja mobs in MP that need a good Singularity slapped on them to keep the team from getting ganked.

I think Soldier is one of those RPG classes that's stronger when the player isn't very good, but weaker than others if the player is competent.

And to some extent it's personal style and talent. I still suck with Vanguards, but other players make them look easy to play.
