Is anyone else sad that the shapeshifting specialization is limited to a bear a spider and a swarm of insects?
I was kind of hope we might get to select a different form i.e a wolf or wildcat. It also seems like master shapeshifter is a cop out just making our spider forms corrupted and givng are bears spikes.

I don't think that it is. In fact, if I recall aright, Morrigan even changes into a wolf in one of the videos. I'd guess that the reason the spider seems to show up in practically all the videos where the power is used is simply to keep from giving away too much. I have no idea how many forms there actually are, though, so there may still be something to what you say, even if it's not literally true.

It seems that the bear, spider, swarm is all we get. Morrigan changing into a wolf may have been for demo purposes only.

The Wiki Info says we only get those three forms with the master shapeshifter updating them maybe someone will release a mod allopwing us to change the apperance of one of those forms?

There are other shapeshifting forms available in the game (during the Warden's Quest event we could see a Mouse Form and a Golem Form, and I know there are a few more). I'm not sure if you need the Shapeshifter specialization with those, though, or if they are only quest/area related...

Now I wonder. Do you specialize further in the various forms? Or will you be equally good in bear, spider and swarm form all the time?

The way I understand it, the bear, spider and swarm shapes do not influence each other, so while you're going down the line, the effectiveness of the other ones will stay the same. But the last one in the line, Master Shapeshifter, significantly influences the effects of the other three.

I'm disappointed in the number of morphs, but on the other hand I'm glad they included shapeshifting at all. I'm interested to see all the abilities and changes you gain as a result of these forms though, I'm assuming less forms = more abilities and usefulness out of the few we get.
NWN:HOTU's shifter was a dream come true. Every shifter power had like 5 different forms to choose from, and then they had all those epic morphs and thematic feats like golem, dragon, and undead forms. I was really hoping Obisdian would do the shifter PrC at some point in NWN2, but all we got was the druid's shapeshifting.

The character creator files mentions that you can transform into different forms in the Fade, and provides shape informaton for these forms: Burning Man, Golem, Stone Golem, Spirit and Mouse. I'm not 100% sure that all of these are in the final game, but Cheiron's post indicates that at least some of them made it in.

I'm hoping the wiki doesn't have all the information and we can pick more forms or a mod will be released with more forms

So would a Shapeshifter in bear-mode, be capable of tanking?
