Well ME3 doesn't have a trend and I probably should have put it a bit farrer than ME1 and ME2 final mission squad.
But the trend in ME1 and 2 is that I always choose the first female squadmate available in the game (Ash/Miranda) and the Asari squadmate. (Liara/Samara)

ME2: Legion & Garrus (but in my official play through i used Miranda & Jacob just to ****** TIM off)
ME3: i want Legion (cuz he has direct communication to the geth fleet) then Prothy or some other bad**** biotic

How many topics do we have that ask this same question, I remember at least three. Well whatever my previous choices have been
ME1=Wrex and Garrus
ME2=Garrus and Miranda
and for Mass Effect 3 it will be most likely Ashley and Garrus.

- Mass Effect 1: Kaidan/Wrex or Liara (Biotic heavy squad makes the low gravity on the Citadel much more interesting)

- Mass Effect 2: Mordin/Miranda or Thane (Miranda's more interesting as she tells TIM to stuff it when you blow the base)

- Mass Effect 3: Well, we'll have to wait and see on that one. I'll choose based on the situation at hand.

I think it would be pretty interesting if your final squad choice had a direct impact on the ending.

Garrus and Liara provided they are both still alive at that point. We have no idea what is going to happen to some of these squadmates throughout the course of the game.
