I find this line of thinking amusing since the "aliens" are basically different colored humans. There's really nothing alien about them since they all basically look, talk, and think like humans.

Only 2 boring humans I can agree with are Kaidan and Jacob. Haven't had many talks with them. They just seem like sideplots for female or gay players.

Miranda, Joker, TIM, Ashley, Zaeed, Kasumi, Kelly... all interesting humans in my opinion.

I find alot of human characters much more interesting than the aliens. Being an alien doesn't automatically make a great character. I consider aliens interesting if they were still interesting when created as humans instead - and for example, Mordin would've been just as stellar character if he was a human as he is a salarian. Garrus, while not the most interesting IMO would have still be a good character if he was a human. The fact he's a Turian doesn't define his entire character. Tali on the other hand is defined by her race and its history almost completely.

A different example - Miranda & Grunt. Both with the similar premise - perfectly engineered members of respective species. But while the concept worked with Miranda it didn't really work with Grunt. Okeer was 10 times more fascinating character than Grunt.

I disagree. Hanar, Volus, Elcor and Krogans act completely different.
Similar to humans are Batarians, Drell, Turians and Asari, and they still act somehow different from humans.

If you don't talk to them much, how can you form an educated opinion on them?  You don't have to romance them to get to know them.

Personally, my favorite characters in the Mass Effect series are human, mostly, so I don't agree with the OP.  Some aliens are better written than others, but I really hope that the friendship paths are more substantial for everyone in ME3, human and alien alike.  I don't have any interest in romancing every single character, and often in ME2 I felt like the only way to get to know people was to do the romance.  Meh.

I agree. It seems that BW gives the lead male henchmen (LI options) the least interesting personalities.

No, humans are the most interesting. Only Alien character was more interesting than any of the humans, died 10 mins into the trilogy.

I do tend to find a higher percentage of the humans less interesting than aliens. Not all of them (I don't find Miranda at all boring ) but most are pretty bland to me.

Once again, it all comes down to individual player preference. Some think aliens are awesome, and others prefer the humans squadmates. *shrug*

@syllogi I totally agree there need to be more fleshed out friendship paths. I found that very frustrating that you could only know most characters well by romancing them. >_<

No, you got that wrong. This was not meant to be an educated, well thought rational opinion. It's just my personal  view after the few conversations I had with them. They had nothing to keep my interest, so I decided not to investigate further.

Unlike Garrus, Mordin, Legion, Zaeed and who-not...

It's not that their boring per say..
It's all down to sex and hot alien sex is clearly superior than the human counterpart.

Lets put it this way: I know how "human sex" feels, but lack experience with aliens. Unless you got abducted a while ago, you shouldn't have such experience too.

Seriously: I think we have interesting characters, humans and aliens likewise. There are characters I like less than others. Overall, my fave bunch is mixed.

I have to agree with OP. I find them boring. The aliens are a lot more interesting because they come from completely different cultures, planets or such and they are a lot different in numerous ways, while the humans are simply, humans which we all are. There aren't many new things to find out about our own race, at least compared to the aliens.

Me being a xenophile means I automatically live pretty much all aliens. On the human side of things in the game, the only character (personality wise) I really liked was Kasumi and thought it was a shame with her lack of dialogue. I find the aliens of ME to be much more interesting and better, well except for around 4 or 5 of the species...

In general I tend to find the alien squadmates more interesting than the humans, and in all my playthroughs I only ever end up romancing the aliens. Not all the humans are boring though.

I also have to say I'm impressed that this thread hasn't degenerated into a "Your favourite squadmate is the most boring" flame war so far. When I saw the thread title, I feared for the worst at what I would find.
