Will there be as much or more included in ME3 as there was in ME2?

Thanks!

Honestly, I'm growing rather tired of the gratuitous profanity in games today. ME2 didn't have that, and I'd love it if they went back to the ME1 style, where it was better dialogue over profanity to convey the character's feelings and intentions.

Take Battlefield 3 for example. On BOTH factions, Both US and Russia. "F! We lost the objective!" "I'm getting F'ed Up over here!" EVERY MINUTE OF THE GAME. It's premature, and it's just...so stupid that people think that using profanity somehow makes them bigger and more mature, and the same goes for gaming. Profanity does not make a game more mature.

Also, before any idiot waddles in and says "hurr wuzzie get uver iiit hurr," try broadening your vocabulary.

ME2's amount didn't bother me. Anything more and it might start to, though. Similar rationale. I don't get offended by it, it's just often pretty meh.

It's not even that I'm offended by it. It's in everything now. I'm used to it, as bad as that is.

But, come on, it is just rediculous how it can get so...excessive. Battlefield 3.

Well soldiers do cuss a lot in the field. Wouldn't you cuss if you were being shot at? They did take it a little far though. I prefer Bad companys 2s amount of profanity.

(Not directed at qoute but at topic)

Also I think that profaninty is only powerful when it is use rarely. It loses it's power if you use it a lot so when something BIG is going down I expect to hear it. Vega goes "HOLY ****!" in the vga trailer. I mostly expect it from Vega TBH

"Oh Snit "is shorter than "Golly, I sure am in a pickle over here, could one of you chaps come lend a hand?" plus profanity seems to convey urgency stronger in some cases. A decent amount of profanity is fine, but 5-6 swears a sentence isn't.

I actually like the profanity in game. It makes it more realistic to me. The game is rated for (M)18+, why should it not have profanity in it?

From what I have played through so far, I would say it is roughly on par with Mass Effect 2. As mentioned, this is a mature rated title and the story takes place in some trying circumstances that, depending on the characters present, may cause the utterances of profanity.

Swearing and profanity has not been added just to make the title seem more adult or to appeal to people who like profanity, but there are characters who use profanity as it fits their personalities. I think this mirrors the real world and, whiel I personally try to limit my use of swearing, I do feel it is correct for the characters involved.

I don't get offended by it but it really isn't needed,  having sharp writing has nothing to do with profanity.   Look at a movie like the Dark Knight, it had very sharp writing and no profanity.

You know, I wouldn't cuss. I just don't cuss. It isn't that hard if you just....don't.

Also, to the person who said, "Oh chaps blah blah" trying to justify it, I get it, but again, you don't need it.

I can say "I'm pinned! I'm pinned! I need help" just as easily as "Deez mutha*********** got mah ***** poopin on mah****"

I remember how tame ME1 was, especially in the language and gore department. That game could've probably been rated T. Uncharted was more "mature" in that regards.

The first time I heard Aria's line in ME2 I was like woah.... yeeeeeesss!  As long as it isn't ridiculously excessive in ME3 (which I trust it won't be) I'll be happy with it. One Batarian character named Gmag who constantly spouts profanity and innuendo in gspeak would be appreciated though.

On the topic of military games: profanity is realistic. I know for a fact that in the USMC, profanity is as much a verbal placeholder/filler as it is used for more colorful purposes.

F**k is used every other word in a lot of cases. It stops registering after a while.

Sounds good. Some people swear, some people don't. Does Shepard use profanity?

- 3 games
- 2+ Years of cannon story.
- Undeniable proof.
- Shepard to save the day, again.

Shepard needs to have the opportunity to tell someone, "I ****ing told you so!"

The problem with your statement is that I know a lot of people who curse just because who are highly intelligent. So nice opinion, but it doesn't mean anything.

I don't have an issue with profanity, like really who gives a ****? Oh my **** my bad, you care, that's ****ing great.

Intelligence isn't based on how you speak, so what the **** are you talking about? Oh I know, you're characterizing based off foul language. That's like saying only intelligent people go to college. When that isn't the case, because we've got a lot of morons with a good educational backgrounds.

If your standard of vocabulary looks down upon on profanity, I can slightly see that and respect it. But don't bring in non-sense like that to the table about broadening vocabulary on some video game ****. That stuff irks the hell out of me.

Seriously?
Mass Effect survived just fine and appealed to people quite well enough without
characters trying to shock everyone with their bad language. Aria's lame you
can’t skip so get ready to cringe line is the prime example of Mass Effect 2
saying "look at me I'm so grown up I swear now!!!"

Do you know how hard it is to rehabilitate to normal society after that? It took me months to relearn how to take f**k out of every other sentance.

My TI from BMT turned swearing into an artform. It wasn't the frequency of it but the context. "What the ****** Gonzalez?" is just an example.

I never understood why cursing is supposed to mean you have a smaller vocabulary or are somehow less intelligent. Is it because it's a "they're not part of my tribe (the noncurses) and we are better" sort of thing?

Expletives appear to be good for pain tolerance (more for people who don't swear a blue streak regularly) and cursing's something we all do, we do early, and we do for stress relief.

My favourite part of ME2 was when Joker was left on the ship. That constant string of swearing? That's exactly what I would sound like. When the ship was attacked, the first thing out of my mouth wasn't "oh, look at that". It's not an intelligence thing. It's not a vocabulary thing. If you're offended by it, that's fine, but don't go around saying "hey, you guys need to learn more words".

I curse up a blue streak and I'm pretty certain that I'm fairly intelligent. It's not just idiots that are fond of cursing.
