Thanks for contacting us!

I’m afraid that while EB Games Australia is owned by Gamestop, we don’t necessarily have the same pre-order bonuses or collectors editions because we are in different countries and are run differently.

The information displayed on the Gamestop website applies to American audiences, not Australian audiences.

The M55 Rifle is only available in the Omni Blade Edition from EB Games Australia as seen here: http://www.ebgames.c...-PlayStation-3

The N7 Edition which you have pre-ordered does come with an N7 arsenal pack, which is not identical to the N7 Warfare pack available to American Audiences.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks again for your enquiry; we hope to see you back online again soon.

I sent them the following email:
"
According to the Official website - http://www.masseffec.../preorderbonus/ - the following is stated and I quote: "Is the M55 Argus Assault Rifle included with the N7 Warfare Gear and Origin pre-order packs? =>> Yes, the M55 Argus Assault Rifle is a channel wide offer and available to everyone who pre-orders."

Also on the same website, the vignette picture shows the N7 Warfare Gear as a "Gamestop Exclusive" EB Games is owned by Gamestop.

The FAQ also mentions that it is a Gamestop and EB Games exclusive and how to obtain the N7 Warfare Gear if neither retailer operates in the customers country.

I would like to ensure I am given the proper pre order bonuses with my Collectors Edition of Mass Effect 3, which I pre ordered on the 14th of September 2011. My pre order number is blahblahblah. The pre order bonuses I am eligible for are the 'M55 Argus Assault Rifle' and the 'N7 Warfare Gear'. I await your timely response. "

Is that a reply, or your original email?

It seems extremely dodgy to me that EB is only giving the Argus code for the Omni-blade edition, and shafting everyone else.

The omniblade edition from EB looks to be the only version of the vanilla ME3 game they are selling(at least for the initial release) and it is post release sales that this "bonus" is aimed at.The N7 collectors edition is for all intentsive purposes a pre-order item. I suspect this is why EB  are not giving the M55 rifle away with the collectors edition, Game having the rights to pre-order bonuses in Australia.

Maybe when we go in to collect our pre-ordered N7 collector editions at EB we should cancel the pre order first then buy it on the day. Maybe a loophole will allow them to give us the M55 rifle code.Image IPB

I suspect that in NZ and Australia the M55 argus code will be prepacked into copies of the game. We don't use the printed receipt method that seems to be prevalent elsewhere. Instead they usually come on game box size pieces of printed advertising with a code on the back.

Mightyape have the N7 armor and gun, but don't explicitly mention the Argus. I presume that will just be a default in the case, which is typically how it's been done here (in NZ) before.

It wouldn't surprise me if it works out the same as the preorder "burlap" map from Skyrim that basically came with every first release copy of skyrim, as opposed to a code that the cashier hands over. When ME2 came out my black storm code was contained in the case .

Bear in mind this is supposition based on previous experience and may well turn out to have changed.

You could very well be right. I have never before pre-ordered any game before ME3. In the end though I dont believe missing a gun or any one piece of armour will affect my enjoyment of the game.If anyone out there is concerned their missing out just check the confirmed features thread. We already have more than enough weopons in the game without adding DLC.

All I can add to that Jon is that when I picked up my pre-ordered Collectors Edition of ME2, they forgot about the Terminus code so I had to prompt them to hand one over!

There is a little loophole i am using with EB World (not that its of any real use so far). My pre orders were made before that system went live. So i was not given retro credit for them. When my pre orders arrive, i take my receipt into the store, have them refund it and reverse the refund - bingo, EBW credit.

i don't think it's dodgy at all. I think in general the DLC policy for Australia either has been mis communicated or an entirely different process applies to us. unless someone from EA/Bioware steps in we're screwed and there isn't a darn thing we can do about it.

in the future tho it might just be easier to order online and suck up the waiting time for delivery or order direct from Origin / Impulse / Steam / some other digital outlet

Yeah its pretty sucky isnt it. Still, for those desperate for the bonuses the retailer flat out refuses to hand over, there are ''other'' methods to obtain them for a more complete experience.

I called my local EB games, the one I've pre-ordered from, they've not confirmed that the Argus is Omni-blade Edition is exclusive, they actually don't know if it's been included in the CE or not, which sounds similar to when DA2 was being released. All pre-orders were given a DA2 mousepad as a bonus, and they were unsure then if the SE would get one or not.

However, as far as I can tell. GAME is exclusively selling the N7 Warfare pack, which I think is just bloody ridiculous. EB Games is the Australian chain for Gamestop, why is the bonus for Gamestop exclusively being given to their competitor, a competitor by the way, has no where near the popularity as EB Games, at least in WA.

EB Games was also unable to give me any information about what bonus, if any, they'll recieve for CE. Which is mainly the reason why I'm pissed off. I don't care what type of bonus it is, if it's of equal worth to what GAME preorders are recieving, I don't really mind.

For those not sure about changing their pre-order, I pre-ordered the N7 Collectors Edition for PC from my (not very) local Game store last night with no problems, so I don't think they are running out of stock just yet.
Tonight I intend to go to my (very) local EB Games store and cancelled the pre-order that I placed last July. I'll also tell them why I'm cancelling it, hopefully enough of a message will get back to EB Games head office or EA Australia and it will stop them pull this sort of crap!

Well folks (to those that recalled my post a page back)..

Sure enough, I went to EB Games to 'enquire' about what promotional retailer material they had on offer [in other words, figuring out why I should keep my pre-order with them and not jump ships to game], the guy there was a bit.. nnnn... tactful word... 'not savvy' with the latest hysteria of "PREORDER WITH US FOR EXCLUSIVE ME3 CONTENT", adament that whatever other retailers were peddling, EB was offering the same.

It wasn't till I went to GAME [only about 4 stores away, hurr], asked them if they could print out a copy of their 'pre-order with GAME to receive N7 Warfare DLC' promo, took it back to EB to 'prove' that EB wasn't offering the same [more to the point, they weren't offering 'anything' apart from stock standard Collectors Edition.. which... is kinda funny when I read this now, stock standar Col-- nvm].

Finally, convinced the guy that 'oh, turns out other retailers ARE offering something different'. Suprisingly enough though, rather than entice me with something to keep my pre-order with them, he was actually the one to initially suggest I pre-order with GAME instead. He wasn't even sore about it. lol

Side-note: The minimum for the pre-order was $30, but I think the guy let me put down $10, so I walked out of there $20 richer! Cha-ching! [Yes, pre-ordering isn't the same as lay-bying apparantly].

Side-note x2: I asked at GAME if they were going to be doing a midnight release of ME3 [I've never been to one before] and the person there said no because they haven't received enough pre-orders, conversely, EB 'IS' doing a midnight launch. I wager this is because many a people were CONVINCED or 'made the assumption' that EB had some nifty pre-order stuff.. or generally are their preferred retailer [since EB has been around longer than GAME.. least where I am].

If only people looked a lil deeper to see they are short-changing themselves, EB could be very disappointed with their ME3 sales. Or majority may not care about DLC, either/or.

tl;dr: If your worried about cancelling a pre-order in one retailer then being stiffed in not being able to get one elsewhere, simply put down a deposit in another store BEFORE you cancel your existing pre-order. Idk what it's like in the US, but when I pre-ordered ME3 CE back in.. I think it was.. June, 2011.. all I had to do was drop $10 to 'secure' my order, course I'd have to pay the rest before I'd actually get the game but I could take comfort in knowing there'd be a copy just for me come release day. :D

Frankly I don't think EB will be too fussed. As you say, people assumed that EB will have the nifty pre-order goodies and won't actually double-check. I can see quite a few pissed-off people come launch day...

I pre-order from EB cause the store I go to has very good service and I've never had any issues with them.
I'm not too worried about the Argus rifle but will wait and see because they don't always seem to list all bonus dlc on their webpage. With KoA pre-order from EB you ended up with the fate weapons pack even though it didn't list that in the game description.

Besides the GAME stores that I used to go to closed at random so...

You poor bosh'tet, consolation though.. least you know you will get a copy of ME3 regardless, heck even the cue to the counter may be significantly shorter than EB or GAME come release day.:wizard:
