 I personally thought the squad build would be this before they said the squad would be smaller and before the leaks:

Garrus
Tali 
Liara
VS
Miranda or Jack
Legion
Grunt
Kirrahe
Feron
Vega or new Fem character
DLC: Prothy

I'm still a little disappointed it won't turn out that way but oh well. I was mostly pleased with the squad from the leaks. Anyways, what squad were you expecting (not hoping) to have in ME3 before any info was released?

Honestly I was expecting this:

Miranda
VS
Garrus
Tali and or Legion
A new human male (James Vega an extra soldier to give to the player in case Ash was virmire'd)
A new human female (An extra sentinel to give to the player in case Kaidan was virmire'd)
Everyone else I was expecting to have LOTSB style cameos.

Ash/Kaidan, Tali, Garrus, Vega, Liara were confirmed long time ago so that 6 was always granted. I expected 10 max overall, with Legion (as an alternate to Tali) and possibly Miranda as well returning as squadmates + Prothy and new human female Sentinel.

yeah I thought they were gonna go with 10 squadmates total too. So sad they didn't would have been nice to have Legion and Miranda back. I still have yet to see a compelling reason as to why Grunt isn't coming back tho. I was expecting him to come back b4 any of the other ME2 exclusives.

That squad has too many humans on it to be realistic; past squads have always had aliens outnumber humans.

true dat....but now that I think about it....the ME3 squad has about the same each technically..

It has 4 aliens, 2 humans, and one "other". That's not the same of each.

well if you count VS as 2 people and the "other" it is... but yeah I see your point

Turns out I was pretty close. I couldn't see the dirty dozen from ME2 all following because all of them have some other engagement that you take them from to join you, where your ME1 squaddies are invested in the fight against the reapers for a longer period of time.

Thane is dying, Miranda has her father to worry about now that she's not Cerberus, Samara would go back to her monastic duties, Morinth would go back to hunting, Mordin would work on a cure for the genophage, Grunt would have duties to Urdnot, Zaeed might not have gotten paid for the collector base getting blown and certainly wouldn't be freelancing for Shep, Kasumi might drop off the grid and might chafe under military command, Jack would definately chafe under military command . . .

Jacob is the only one I could have seen as a maybe, but even he has danced with the alliance before and found the experience to be wanting.

Meh realistic or not I'd find it better than the squad we are getting.

I was expecting the lead from both games

- VS
- Miranda (with cerberus as the main enemy i'm dissappointed that bw didn't give the chance to a disclosure betwen Miranda and Cerberus. I want to take her to the confrontation with TIM)
- Feron (instead of having liara in the squad, she remains in her ship and send feron to help us)
- Garrus (he isnt a lead character, but he was a nobody after ME2, so he could join the squad with no much problem)
- Grunt (wrex is busy leading the krogans).
- Vega
- Legion or Tali (one of them should remain in Rannoch)
- DLC character.

I thought that we would have the VS, Vega, a new female soldier and that's it.

The game would play like LotSB where dependent on the mission you could use one full-time squaddie and the character attached to the mission. That would have been fine with me.

But however Bioware plays it out, I'm good with that.

I thought the point of the SM was to have a variable squad for ME2 minus the members who could play a role outside of the group (Garrus, Tali, Liara, Legion, Samara, Mordin, Thane, Wrex, Tali) but that made too much sense to implement.

I can see why you thought that. He didn't realy have anywhere else to be in ME3 since he quits Cerberus at the end of ME2 but he wasn't the most popular so that's probably why he didn't. Jack didn't really have anywhere to go either now that I think about it.

Typo on my end.

Regardless, I thought the people who could be off recruiting their people couldn't join the crew because they would serve greater importance elsewhere. besides. we got her in two games already, did we really need her in the third? If she and Garrus skipped ME2, then I wouldn't mind them coming back for ME3.
