At least I'm getting a few characters I wanted.

Liara, Ash, and Garrus, to be specific. The DLC squadmate has my interest piqued, but we'll see if I like him come march.

Yeah I got Garrus back so I'm happy. He was all I needed really, sure I would have welcomed Wrex, Mordin, Legion and Miranda but Garrus was the only must for me. I'll welcome the rest and judge the newbies when I play it. 

as far as the DLC squadmate goes....I think he has the majority of us interested

Hard to say because I don't think the squad is going to work the way it worked in the last two games.

It looks like its going to be a little more contextual and smaller, which I like.

Means not having to leave people out for your favourites.

Indeed, this fanbase seems to personify the connundrum of not being able to please everyone.

I was expecting to see a team of Thane-like Drell assassins sneaking on to a Cerberus ship and sabotaging it from the inside. Garrus leading a fleet of rebel ex-soldiers/c-sec/specters/mercs or anyone who fit the rebel role to join his vigilante gang. Wrex coming with a unified Krogan army (still expect to see that). Samara with a band of Justicars as well as the whole lot of Asari comandos granted to her by her government. Mordin using his superspy skills with the STG to do undercover work to unify governments. Liara using her SB army as an ati Cerberus to give us breathing room to deal with the big threat The Reapers!

At least I got Ash and Kaidan back, I've got not real thoughts about Vega (except his character design) or the three spoiler characters.

Cameos:

Everyone would be temporary.
New Temporary Squadmates:
-Aria
-Kirrahe
-Anderson/Udina (Ha, no seriously. Depending on who isn't a councilor.)
-Batarian Squadmate
-Patriarch
-Citidel Council (If saved)
-Bailey
-Admiral Hackett
-Kal'Reegar
-Conrad (For maybe a side mission)
-The Asari Bartender from Ilium
