I'm putting some custom music in my mod. I am using audacity 1.3 beta to open MP3 files and save them as 128 bit, constant bitrate, stereo MP3 files. Then I use the MP3toBMU converter from the vault and convert them to BMU. I put them in the music folder in the mydocs directory, I have the .2da file right because I can select the music in-toolset. When I select the music in toolset, only the first 1/2 second plays, then there is about a 10 secon pause and it does it again. I have tried this with 2 files.
I have tested my editing of the .2da by adding another line with an existing, functional .bmu file and it worked fine. I am certain I am doing something wrong in the .BMU conversion process, I just don't know what. Thanks for any help.
Only the first 1/2 second of custom music plays in toolset

I noticed that if I open up the dropdown menu and keep it open, sometimes the whole song will play. It stops when I close the menu, though. I also have to open the menu right when the song starts, or no dice.

I just checked and it plays fine in-game. It is a toolset problem.

I unloaded all 3rd party plugins, no luck. I did notice that it does not matter which pull-down menu I open. As long as I open a pull-down menu when the song starts, then it will continue to play until the menu is closed. Pretty strange.

Just a thought, should the track be mono. It has to be for sound objects.
Audacity will do that.
PJ
Audacity will do that.

Uncle Fester Pot said in another thread it should be 44mhz, 128kbps, stereo. That was in the NWN1 forum. I don't know if NWN2 is the same.

It started working after I decreased the name of the .bmu file to 10 characters. Thanks to PJ156 for that suggestion!

I've put up to 12 characters in the name successfully. I know the MP3 to BMU converter gives you a warning if you go ove 16 characters. I wonder if that is cut off. Haven't tested past 12 though.
