I'd love to see many cameos. I liked how ME3 had a lot of characters not so much as a party members, but are seen playing their role in the galactic struggle and you happen to go to the places they have their role. Stuff like that would be appreciated. Not to extent ME3 did it though. No need to feel like its just copying ME3 in total.

I'm interested in seeing how they will do cameos in DA3.  Cause all three ME games had the same reaper plot.  But DA switched from the blight to the mage templar war.  So what would Sten or Oghrens roles be if they got a cameo.

Also the only really good cameo in DA2 was Nathaniels.  Leliana's disregarded choices that may have been made in Origins and Zevran and Alistair looked kind of wierd (more so with Zevran)

as long as Dulci de Launcet is a companion, then the game will rock!

Cameos work better in Dragon Age, because you are assuming the role of a new character, so there is already a built in reason why they don't want to join up with you. That being said:
Cassandra, Friend of Red Jenny, Varric, female dwarf shale, and Bethany/Carver

Shale as a female dwarf but still with the same attitude and Varric from DA 2.

Ex-Queen Anora...what ever happened to her?
I hope to hear she is still locked in a tower in Ferelden...but, it would be nice to know where she is.

I let her be Queen in most of my playthroughs. (Executed Alistair) I am bit upset that there was a head of Ferelden role that Alistairs get to do with Meredith in Dragon Age 2 that Anorna could have done too.  I would like to see people that the previous games mention were heading to Orlais to have cameos:
1) Morrigan
2) Loghain
3)Leiliana?
4) Cassandra?
5) Sendai and Bondahn

I am not sure if any other character was mention about going to Orlais. I mean it would not be such a leap of fate if Flemeth or Tallis showed up.

Yeah, that was my point that she was not in it. I have read the books and I love Loghain (Never stoped me from killing him though) so I was wondering why no Anora. Alistair was my favorite character, I could never kill him. His banter was the best. He is even Gaiders favorite NPC...or so I hear.

Pretty much all my companions from both games (some lines referencing LI's would be nice. I love me some Alistair and Anders)
As much as I dislike Leliana, I feel like she is obviously coming back
Sandal and Bodahn
and Flemeth would be awesome, too

tbh I don't want any returning companions, I want a whole new set to go with my new protagonist. I would not be averse to cameos from some old favorites. Top of the list would be Zevran, Alistair, Varric, Nathaniel if they are all alive. Any of the old companions could return in this capacity and I'd be happy with a couple of exceptions. Or even hear some slight gossip (like the former captain of Kirkwall becomes the new Viscount by an overwhelming approval of the nobles, or ships sailing the waters of the Waking Sea run afoul of a certain pirate captain aboard the Siren's Call 2).

I have no interest in seeing Morrigan. As far as I'm concerned Witch Hunt finished her tale well enough for me. I didn't romance her, and felt as long as she was not in my Warden's life anymore, she was better left out. I suspect though her tale isn't done yet so I'll just wait to see. She's alive and any attempt to kill her just left too many variables in place for her not to have survived. My lack of desire is more from a story-line perspective than any dislike for the character herself. I really didn't like her enough to care to see her story continued past Witch Hunt.

I figure Leliana will be back since she's tied into the whole seeker/chantry/templar/mage conflict going on and if DA3 continues that story, she will have a pretty big part to play in it. Her potential death in Origins has already been handwaved (and she is a part of the ongoing story). Maybe not as a full fledged companion, but in a cameo like she has in DA2 or even a temporary companion (ala Tallis) for some specific mission/dlc. This isn't a personal preference just an acceptance of Bioware's intended plans for whatever story they intend to play out for her.

Other characters may or may not be dead depending on character choices in previous games, and I'd prefer they stay dead rather than be forced on my PC in DA3 as full fledged companions. Both Anders and Loghain died in my games, and I'd prefer they stay dead.  Cameos/temporary companions works really well in this context. As DA2 incorporated some choices pretty well, they didn't show up if they weren't alive, but because they were, some minor side quests sprang up from it.

As for people I'd love to see return in DA3 or any subsequent games, in a companion/cameo/NPC who just meets and greets capacity, I'd love to see Cullen (a templar who's seen a LOT of growth in both games), Connor (esp if the game moves to Tevinter, and in light of the whole mage war storyline Bioware seems to be going with), Bevin (who would be an adventurer or just starting out his adventures if the timeline continues--10 years later would put the boy in Redcliffe about the right age).

And of course, my favorite NPC in the game, Bann Teagan, even in just a cameo would tickle me to no end!

One crucial point appears to be missed on threads like this repeatedly, regarding unwanted companions:
Bioware is obviously planning on using some kind of import feature for world consistency.
Therefore, any characters killed in your game should NOT appear in your DA universe, because they do not belong there.:pinched:
You could basically kill/not recruit nearly all your companions in DAO,for example. So,a failsafe import is paramount in order to take care of "unwanted" character canonization.
(The "immortal" ladies that live no matter what you do are a different case entirely ).

I think DA would be better served establishing that it is about THEDAS and NOT about characters by having as few returning characters as possible. If there is nothing important for the character to contribute to the current game, don't bother with the inane cameos, especially if the characters could be dead. Nobody wants a BSN that is FLOODED with angry nitpickers who feel betrayed by Bioware ignoring individual player's continuity.

Well ... my Warden is a red-haired, blue-eyed human noble Warrior, Queen of Ferelden and Commander of the Grey, married to Alistair, King of Ferelden ... and ... my Champion is a red-haired, blue-eyed human Warrior, Viscount of Kirkwall, married to Sebastion, the King of Starkhaven. So, if either my Warden of my Champion appear in Dragon Age 3, their husband should appear as well. Otherwise ...

Morrigan and Flemeth, and the (Dark Ritual)
Anders (depending)
Fenris
Varric
Tallis
The Architect
Sandal

Preferred Companion List:
Fenris (Warrior)
Varric (Rogue)
a Qunari Saarebas (Mage)
a Grey Warden (Warrior)
a Chantry Seeker (Rogue)
The Architect (Mage)
Sandal, Bodahn Feddic's "son" (Enchantment!)

I must be the only one who actually wants Tallis to come back as a permanent companion/LI.  I loved her, I thought she was great, and MotA was good fun.
I'd also like to see Nathaniel, Cullen, Cassandra, Morrigan and Leliana return as well.
